We have a large town house at the bottom of a small quirky 70s cul de sac . We only have 1 room on the ground floor but offer that whole floor as private accommodation for our guests . We do live in the house and we only have the one accommodation in the house . The accommodation is a large bedroom with a private small high pressure shower room with a toilet and hand basin. The room opens with french doors into a little courtyard garden with a very comfy hypnos mattress king size bed with quality cotton bedding and pillows . The decor is calm bright and neutral with wood floors and a sisal grass rug a rocking chair and a small leather chair ,there is a small wardrobe and a kettle to make tea and coffee , the accommodation has its own private entrance and large hallway for shoes and bags the shower room is off the hallway.. This sunny south facing room has morning sun. You are welcome to use the large American fridge in the hosts kitchen to store your perishables and there is also milk available for your drinks .
Altho the property is by the railway line it’s a slow running, 2 carriage train that stops running at bedtime so the nights are very quiet ensuring an very quiet nights sleep ,occasional owls hooting and bird song in the early morning.
Hello I’m Jill the host I live at the property , I am passionate about house renovation and design.
I saw this house and its potential to be a modern light filled home , It is on 4 levels which lends it to being split into private spaces , at the bottom of a tree lined cul de sac looking out over a small railway embankment . It has taken a few years and now I am proud to have one room and floor for guests . I have also converted my garage on the same property into a tiny hide away cabin that is self contained with a small kitchenette and tiny bathroom complete with a sit up Japanese bath.
I love the challenge of making the most of a space in the cosiest yet practical way.
I have spent alot of time opening the house up to as much light as possible and bringing in the green landscape ,so as a result the garden and surrounding large trees are very much part of the experience ,making the house altho on the edge of town feel surprisingly like it’s deep in the countryside ,We like good food and I can recommend many interesting places to eat, walking and sea swimming with dogs means we have lots of off the tourist trail places to direct the guests to . I enjoy meeting my guests when it happens naturally and sharing good tips to enjoy this beautiful unique part of Cornwall .
The small plain 70s cul de sac is tucked away at the top of the hill within 15-20 minute walk into the centre of town and 3 beaches .Close enough yet quiet to reach all the bustle and activity of festivals , boat trips, lively cafes and restaurants , historical, a Tudor castles, coves and beaches along the coast path , tropical gardens . We are situated along the small branch line that connects to 2 stations in falmouth closest station is Penmere station a 10 minute walk connects to Truro mainline to London and the south west . The wider neighbourhood is quiet and family orientated.
Don’t be deterred by the plain appearance as you drop into the cul de sac it’s a bit plain, however
The property at the bottom feels quite detached over looking the mature tree lined branch line. the cul de sac feels quiet and safe , with no restriction free street parking along the road toward the house at the bottom There is usually a space available.
We feel it’s a good location allowing quiet nights but easy walkable distance into town and beaches.
