Company information

I am Deborah, and I’m the proud proprietor of Norman Guest House, my husband and I met in 1985 and we were married in St Mary's Church on the cliff. We are a family run business and all of our team are dedicated to our guests having a warm friendly experience when they visit. I am lucky enough to have spent most of my childhood in the local villages of Grosmont, Glaisdale and Staithes, with my family. My husband’s family has lived in Whitby for centuries and we are both passionate about the area’s history. We are happy to share all we know about Whitby’s past and present to help you have the best possible visit Norman Guest House is located on the West Cliff, in the heart of historic Whitby. There’s more to our small fishing town, situated on the edge of the wild North Yorkshire Moors than meets the eye. Hidden in our Victorian cobbled streets and alleys, which climb from our picturesque harbour to the medieval Abbey, are stories of Captain Cook’s voyages, whaling fleets, St Hilda chasing snakes from our cliffs, and of course Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula. My team and I are waiting at the Norman Guest House to offer you a warm welcome and help you to explore our entire town.
