Centrally located Half Moon top flat is the oldest house in Hay, mentioned in several books, it used to be a pub and maintains that warm cosy feel of those happy days. It is now a much loved family home, with a separate ground floor flat on the ground floor now and the top floor converted into holiday accommodation when we are not there.
It has some quirky features such as the beautiful old wooden stairs winding up to the top floor and some walls decorated with books to compliment Hays renowned reputation as the Worlds first book town. The larger bedroom has a double bed that allows you a great view, to the hills, and the other smaller bedroom, previously our childs is, a cheerful buttercup yellow, with views over Hays lovely wonky rooftops . There is a sitting room, with a sofa bed, that offers a restful spot to gaze out to the hills. We have no TV, being a book town that even banned the kindle!, but Wifi if you want to watch on your devices.
There is basic essentials such as a small counter fridge, and kettle, there are plenty of places to explore eating out in Hay. Tea and coffee provided.
The toilet and bathroom are in the middle floor with towels provided. All laundry are fresh and clean, but not ironed, as costs are soaring making this almost an unviable business, so we save costs on this and don't pass them onto you.
Tamara has travelled around the world for the BBC as an award winning self shooting director. But when back in the UK there is nowhere she prefers than Hay, with her roots stretching back to her childhood nearby in the Black Mountains. It is her soul home. She even made a film on the humour and histrionics of the town, "Borderline Hay on Wye" which you can view on youtube. She loves hosting and sharing her home and love of the area.
Brilliantly central yet facing away from the hustle and bustle, the house is very convenient for town yet also has lovely views of the hills. Facing The conservative club, a local hang out, with the Tapas Bar behind means you are right in the heart of town, only one minute from the bookshops and art galleries, with local shops to buy essentials just around the corner. The local arts cinema and yoga centre are on our doorstep too. Really it couldn't be better if you want to make the most of your time in Hay.
