Two bedroom renovated crofters cottage with everything you need for a relaxing holiday or break away. New Shake Style kitchen Air Source Heat Pump and Wood burner. Our new heat pump was one of the first installed on Great Bernera and it saves the equivalent of some 17000 roads miles of CO2 each year. We are so glad we ditched our old boiler. The solid wooden floor makes it ideal for guests who want to take their dogs as well. ( Max no 2 ) All bedding linen and towels are provided along with a very generous local produce welcome pack. We are "Short Term Let" licenced with the Local Authority and the cottage has fire detectors, CO2 monitors, and all relevant safety certificates are accessible to our guests in the cottage information booklet. We offer to send out to our guests who request it a tourist information pack for anyone who wants to plan out their holiday in advance. Loads of parking space for up to two cars. Bosta beach is only a few mins drive away and pre- marked out coastal walks have been set out by the local community. During the summer months the local community center offers lunches teas and coffee afternoons. All of this is to be found in a stunning natural location which boasts Otters Eagles Seals wildlife and so much more all in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
One guest wrote in our book years ago when we were rated 4 star with Visit Scotland "the 4 star cottage with the 5 star welcome" We have been hosting for many years now at this cottage which has connections to Anne's family going back for over 4 generations. This is one of several properties we have been letting for holiday lets and we are very proud of their high level of guest satisfaction seen in the guest comment book in the cottage and on line . Several of our guests are multiple return visitors year in and year out so much so that they have become personal family friends. We aim to constantly add to and improve the quality of the stay of their guests with improvements to the cottage year on year and welcome any feed back offered. We both have hospitality experience in the past and also have a long and detailed history and connection to the island on local community. We are always willing to be contacted by guests in relation to any part of their plans and stay at the cottage and are willing to help you maximize the enjoyment of your Holiday. Don't be shy about contacting us and remember we can send out a pre -visit tourist pack free of charge to help you get organised for your stay before you arrive.
The village of Hacklete is still very much a crofting community with a thriving community center as the local busy hub of activity. The cottage is a stones throw from the massive Loch Barabhat with its pre Iron Age Broch. The elevated position of the of the 10 Acre Croft which the cottage sits in allows a panoramic 360 degree view from Ach More to Gallan Head in Uig. Harsgeir Island sits in West Loch Roag and is visible from the kitchen window. Bosta beach is a must visit ( 7 min drive) with its reconstructed Iron Age house at the site of a real settlement. Artifacts from the Bosta site can be seen at the local museum in the community center. Every aspect of life here is rural with helpful friendly neighbors all around. Livestock is for ever present so we do ask guests to be careful with their pet dogs. All the normal codes of the countryside need to be observed closing gates dogs under control around sheep etc.
