Lisieux House is a traditional Irish farmhouse. It is set on 2 acres of land and completely surrounded by green fields, on the shore of Lough Neagh. It is a quiet rural location.
We have been living in this house for over 20 years and recently we have been developing a small organic garden to provide fruit and vegetables for the house. We have 2 children and one grandchild all in Belfast. The house has a reputation of providing hospitality and we glad to be able to continue that tradition.
The area is very rural but there are about 100 houses in the immediate vicinity. We have wonderful neighbours. The outstanding feature of the area is the Lough - it is just the largest lough in Britain and Ireland. It supports great biological diversity, especially in relation to migrating bird species. Behind the house is a nature reserve called the Montiaghs Moss that provides habitats for an amazing array of dragon flies, butterflies, moths and other insects. One mile down the road is the local pub - the Gate Inn. Above the pub there is a restaurant that provides traditional Irish fare. The nearest town is Lurgan which is about 15 minutes away. In this town there's a very good selection of restaurants and bars.
