Residing in the heart of the Wye Valley, Hope Cottage is quintessential cosy cottage living. Comprising of two upstairs bedrooms one king and one double, with bathroom and toilet located on the ground floor. The cottage also boasts separate living and dinning rooms, both having the luxury of wood burning stoves. The kitchen has an electric oven/hob and fridge freezer. There is a generous outside space with two decking areas to enjoy views towards the Malverns, there is a sheltered patio area to enjoy alfresco dining and garden area to enjoy the nicer weather. There is a private parking area in front for up to two vehicles. We are located in close proximity to the A40. which provides easy access to South Wales and the M50. Please note the cottage itself is in a rural location with immediate access via single track lanes, suitable for cars, SUVs, 4X4s or equivalent (larger vehicles may struggle). My partner Sarah and I work in Monmouth and part of my job requires me to stay in other accommodation. The cottage is our little getaway.

We are located just up the hill from Symonds Yat West on the Great Doward. Surrounded by lush woodlands and rolling hills, Hope Cottage boasts enjoyable views and easy access to a variety of outdoor activities. Guests can enjoy hiking, cycling, and bird-watching, with numerous trails and pathways winding through the picturesque landscape of the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. The nearby River Wye provides opportunities for canoeing and fishing, making it an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts. The best way to get around is either on foot or bike, e-bikes are also useful as there are some steep climbs! YOFI Pub and dining is a 15 minute walk down the hill. The pub has a great outdoor terrace by the river, and in the summer there are cocktail bars, pizza ovens and Japanese takeaway all located on the terrace. There are several other pubs to enjoy close-by. If you are looking to explore the Wye Valley by river, we recommend YOFI paddle-sports located at the pub. You will likely be met by either Robin or Leon, they have Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) and canoes. You can even do a half day trip down the valley by canoe (booking ahead is recommended). If you need to pick up basics before or during your stay, Woods of Whitchurch is our local shop selling a good variety of essentials, and is a short walk. They do pastries and cakes to take away and is also good for a sit-in coffee or lunch. Some nights they do an evening takeaway service. There are plenty of other shops to pick up supplies on your way to the cottage or during your stay in the near-by towns of Monmouth and Ross-on-Wye, both with an abundance of eateries and other amenities. Whether you're seeking a cosy retreat, a small family adventure holiday, or a solo escape to walk the forest trails, Hope Cottage provides options for many who are looking to get a way for a while.
