The Urquhart is a deceptively spacious house, situated in the heart of Aberdeenshire. This C Listed property has been renovated in 2024 to a very high standard, while still retaining the rustic charm of its historic past as a brewery, located in the town centre of Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire. The stylish living accommodation on the second floor, provides every comfort for 6 guests. Relax in the quiet and spacious Master/Kingsize Bedroom, snuggle in the smaller Double Room and a quirky Twin Room. Living space includes a charming Mezzanine Sitting Room, Modern and fully equipped Kitchen, 2 x Ultra Modern Walk in Shower Rooms, Desk/Work Space and a Utility Room. On the ground floor, the entrance/vestibule leads to The Garden Room for Dining and Chatting. Taking you through to the charming vaulted ceilinged Pheasant Bar where you can be "Mine Host" with your own bar and sit and chat over a drink or two while the more competitive streak can be catered to with a challenge on the Pool Table, or be competitive on the Table Football. Or why not try your skill at the Darts Board, there is ample space for friend or family to visit and enjoy these facilities. However, if you simply want some chill or quiet time, head through to the TV Den for movies and gaming, or curl up and relaxing with a favourite book. We supply ample board games and books to enjoy. A spacious disabled toilet is also located on the ground floor. The Urquhart is located in the centre of the town, with parking opposite and has a couple of charming pubs nearby, prestigious butcher, Thai, Pizza and Ice cream Take Outs all just 5 minutes away. Close by are Meldrum House Hotel & Golf Club and golfing at Oldmeldrum Golf Club, Lochter Activity Centre or why not book a visit to Glengarioch Distillery, literally 5 minutes away? There is ample walks such as up Barra Hill for people and pets and a friendly, local welcome awaits you! along with great golfing
I am excited and delighted to welcome guests to The Urquhart. The inspiration behind the renovation, with the help of my architect parter, was to make better use of this quirky building and to provide visitors to Oldmeldrum, (a charming, friendly town,) with a spacious, stylish, yet cosy home from home, somewhere to relax, unwind and explore this beautiful area. Whatever the reason, perhaps for a special celebration, meeting of friends or family or just to explore this rich, historic and beautiful area of Scotland - here so much to discover! I love the outdoors and walking in particular. My own career has been in fashion retail, business and marketing support and I am very passionate about the power of the local economy and supporting small businesses to keep town centres vibrant and a great community to work and live in. When looking for a holiday or short break myself, I love to find somewhere with a bit of character and personality. As I like to cook from scratch as I am coeliac (gluten free) but love eating out too! With two black Labradors I enjoy walking in the countryside, travel, cooking, socialising and keeping fit. I joined Rock Choir , so uplifting and a great way to meet new people and I hope to meet many more people who come and stay with us at The Urquhart.
Oldmeldrum is a lovely, friendly town, with so much to offer. Just five minutes from the property is Glengarioch Distillery, where you can have a tour, and taste a dram in their Visitor Centre. Many guests travel here for weddings as there are several venues with a 20 mile radius. Meldrum House Hotel and Country Club and Barra Castle are both in Oldmeldrum. We are lucky enough to have two Golf Clubs, Lochter Activity Centre along with nearby Pitmedden Gardens and Haddo House for walks and always dominating your view is Bennachie, pronounced Ben a hee, a beautiful place to walk and enjoy our natural world and breathtaking views, but it can be windy at the top! We are close to Inverurie, a bustling market town, with so many independent shops, restaurants and coffee shops to visit, along with the train station for easy access to other towns. Another popular destination is P & J Live - next to Aberdeen Airport and just 20 minutes was. The arena provides so much entertainment from rock and pop concerts to the Harlem Globetrotters. This is just a few ideas of what's on offer, but I am very happy to help you plan your trip, or maybe you are a guests at a wedding in the locality, or simply just need an excuse to get away from it all to relax and recharge the batteries.
