Kanela Studios (formerly known as Zante Studios) is a two-floor accommodation built just next to the beautiful beach of Alykes in Zakynthos (Zante) island. All rooms have been recently renovated personally by the owners using natural materials. ‘Kanela’ means ‘Cinnamon’ in Greek. A few years ago someone abandoned a very cute puppy in the middle of a harsh winter, right outside our doorstep. We named that little puppy ‘Kanela’ because of her cinnamon color. When we decided to create our cozy place, Kanela was always there, with her gentle nature and her kind eyes, accompanying us throughout all the process. So when we finally finished works and we were looking to name the place, ‘Kanela’ came out naturally.
Giorgos and Marios are two brothers born and raised in Alykes, Zakynthos. Giorgos has lived in Italy and studied graphic design in Athens. Speaks Italian fluently. Giorgos loves creating things with his hands; many of the furniture in Kanela Studios and Kanela Cafe are his own creations. Marios has studied TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Photography in the UK. I hold an M.A. in TESOL. Marios loves Documentary Photography and Video Art. He also enjoys travelling and working as volunteer in different countries; trying to have a positive impact in local communities.
Kanela Studios is located about 100 m. from the town center of Alykes in Zakynthos. Just a few steps away you can find tourist shops, restaurants and bars for every taste, a bakery, ATMs, a super market and the beach is right there, just 30 meters from the studios!
