Pirovac is a small Dalmatian town located between Zadar and Šibenik. Nestled in a bay that stretches for several kilometers, the water here is always 3 to 4°C warmer than the average temperature of the Adriatic Sea. The town was first mentioned in historical records in the year 1298. During the Middle Ages, the advancing Ottomans tried unsuccessfully to conquer it. To this day, parts of the defensive walls built in the 16th century (1505) can still be seen. The present-day Church of St. George (“Sveti Juraj”) was built in 1506. Just 20 kilometers away lies the nearest larger city, Šibenik. National Parks: The Krka Waterfalls (famous as a filming location for the Winnetou movies) The Kornati Islands (tourist boats depart daily from Pirovac to the Kornati) Pirovac offers a range of amenities including a bank, post office, medical clinic, dentist, pharmacy, hair salons, a gym, market, several bakeries, two butcher shops, various grocery stores, souvenir shops, numerous restaurants and cafés, a playground, and other recreational activities for children.
