On the beautiful Flores island of Indonesia, 28 kms east of Maumere, nestled right at the water’s edge, sits the Sleepy Lagoon. Built traditionally from coconut wood and bamboo with grass roof, it’s the perfect artist retreat or getaway holiday for couples or small families - maximum 4 people It is simple living here, with small solar 12 volt system during the day and generator power at night, fans but no air conditioning, no television, cold water showers, mosquito nets, kitchen facilities for cooking yourself (including small fridge)or eat at the small restaurant nearby. Meals can also be ordered and delivered from Lena House restaurant nearby. Wifi connection via local phone SIM card data. Please note there is no direct road access. The house is reached by walking along the beach from the nearby restaurant at Lena House about 500m at low tide or by boat. Please also note that as our property backs on to jungle/coconut plantation, and due to the open nature of the house construction there are sometimes creatures/and or insects come visiting. They live here too! Our local caretaker Fredh will welcome you and look after your needs, including organising transport and nearby activities. You will love getting to know Fredh and the locals in this friendly, quiet community.
We love nature and we love the beautiful natural setting of our holiday home. We welcome you to the peace and serenity of this hidden gem. Come and unwind by listening to the gentle lapping of the waves, observing nature at its finest. The view across the bay to the outer islands is stunning!
Most people come here to relax, and swim in the calm waters right in front of the house, but there are plenty of activities too. Climb the nearby volcano, Mount Egon, (pictured), visit the local hot springs (pictured), take day trip to nearby islands for snorkelling, or visit the local caves. Local markets are vibrant, and a good way to learn more about the community you are staying with. Motorbikes ar3 available for hire, and our caretaker Fredh can help you organise these activities.
