Property information

Our lodge is spacious, bright, breezy, beautiful and comfortable. We are located on the west side of the island, approximately 6.5km from the village of Kilronan. Short walkable distances from the village of Kilmurvey, Dún Aonghasa, the Wormhole, and Blue Flag Beach, our lodge is an ideal base for exploring the island's points of interest, enjoying the gorgeous landscape, or relaxing away from the bustle of the port. We have 6 rooms on offer. In total we can accommodate 20 people but also have a self catering bungalow next door that can accommodate 10 people. (This is used for groups - business, special interest, events, yoga etc..) *Phone for group enquiries & offers! Our massive living room is a great place to commune or relax. An ideal space for reading, watching TV, playing cards, or practicing yoga with friends. We have a meditation chair, beanbag, bouncy chairs for you to melt into! Breakfast is included in your stay; we offer local continental items and hot Irish breakfast. Complimentary teas, coffee, hot chocolate and cookies are available in our dining space throughout the day, as well as a microwave and shared refrigerator to warm or store your own food. Our favourite spot is our 'nook' upstairs. A couch with a massive window overlooking the fields & fort. PERFECT for sunsets! Taxis run in and out of Kilronan town and from the port so you can arrive, depart or just head in to town for dinner & drinks easily if you don't feel like walking or cycling. We can help you organize any transport. We have a brand new fleet of bikes that you can rent from us at your convenience, with discounted rates for groups and longer stays! Anything else you need? Talk with our friendly and knowledgeable staff, who would be delighted to answer any questions. We can provide maps and books as well as recommendations and advice to help you get the most out of your island experience. We're looking forward to welcoming you to the Aran Walkers Lodge!

Neighbourhood information

We are situated in Gort na gCapall in the middle of the island right in the centre of all the historic and monastic sites! Moments away from our famous blue flag beach where you can take a dip in the morning or tan yourself midday and also minutes from the 'worm hole' (where they host the Red Bull cliff diving championships) which will be held again in 2019! You will wake up to an uninterrupted view of Dún Aonghasa Fort & we're directly opposite to Kilmurvey craft village where you can shop our local crafts (Aran sweaters & Celtic jewellery) then dine at an award-winning cafe that serves amazing local & fresh food & tins of Guinness then pop next door for ice cream and Aran fudge! This area is a haven. Horses, donkeys, cows, flush with flowers and wildlife, endless beauty! We are just minutes away from the stunning coast road that brings you to the seal colony, the goats cheese factory, swan lake and pops you out right at Wattys pub! We could not be in a better location to fully immerse yourself in the island and have an epic adventure from our big beautiful & comfortable guestlodge! This place in particular is a walker's paradise!

Need-to-know information for guests at this property

Directions:

There is a bus route from the pier. Bicycles are also available to rent. These services will transport luggage for you as well. Transport is also possible from the airstrip.

On foot or on bicycles, follow the road out of Kilronan heading west towards Dún Aonghasa. Keep straight along the road until there is a turn left marked Gort na gCapall, at the top of a hill leading down to the beach, from which the Dún can be seen. Take the turn left and continue to the lodge, which will be the third building down this road.

An alternate route from Kilronan follows the coastline and takes you past the seal colony lookout point. Continue west out of Kilronan, but just before Tí Joe Watty's pub, there will be a turn right onto a lower road. Continue straight on this road until you arrive at Cill Muirbhigh beach. Go up the hill in the direction back towards Kilronan, and at the top of that hill will be the turn right into Gort na gCapall.

These routes are around 6 km or 7 km, respectively.

Please inform Aran Walkers Lodge in advance of your expected arrival time. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly with the contact details provided in your confirmation.

This property will not accommodate hen, stag or similar parties.

Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian.
