You are very welcome to stay in my cosy home, The Old Schoolhouse, located just off the Wild Atlantic Way and 10km from Malin Head. The house has spectacular views, a peaceful atmosphere and is in a perfect location to explore Inishowen. You will be able to enjoy a quiet stay without interruption. The original building dates from approx. 1840 and is thought to be one of Ireland's oldest schools. The school and garden were converted in the late 1960s when the school closed. Please take into consideration before booking that the house is a continuing work in progress. This means that there are some older features and styles, and some aspects are waiting to be upgraded. The downstairs living and dining area is large with beautiful views out over Trawbreaga bay, the Isle of Doagh and the Clonmany Hills. There is an open space to relax and a wood burning stove for lovely, cosy evenings. The kitchen is well-equipped and offers impressive scenic views while you cook! Upstairs there are two bedrooms with capacity to sleep 5 guests and a bathroom with a shower over the bath. There is also an additional toilet and basin downstairs. The house has an enclosed garden surrounded by rocks, native trees and plant-life. Guests have access to the whole house and garden. Your stay will be uninterrupted, though someone will be nearby if you need anything. There is space for 2 cars in front of the house. There is no television in the house but WiFi is available. Pets are welcome - please inform prior to booking if you wish to bring pets. Pets are not allowed on furniture or bedding. No parties are allowed and No smoking anywhere within the house

Hi, I'm Catherine. My family is from the Malin area and I returned here myself in 2021 with the opportunity to purchase The Old Schoolhouse. I enjoy travel - usually involving a long distance cycling or hiking adventure, attending Brazilian dancing festivals or visiting friends and family in other countries. The house is my home for most of the year and I choose to rent it out while I'm away, so please keep in mind this is a home and not simply a holiday house.

The house is located 3km out of Malin village where there is a small shop, pub and take away. Carndonagh is less than 10 minutes drive where there are several supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and take aways. The stunning Five Fingers Strand is 5 minutes drive away, and there are many more beaches to explore all over Inishowen. Other activities of interest in the area: The Wild Alpaca Way, Ballyliffin Golf Club, Ballagh Art Studio, Wild Ireland, Fort Dunree, Inish Adventures.
