Welcome to Hill House – A Historic Escape in the Heart of Cashel Hello! I'm delighted to welcome you to Hill House, a unique and character-filled home dating back to 1790. Rich in history, this special property has welcomed some remarkable figures over the years. Most notably, Daniel O’Connell – the great Irish political leader – not only stayed at Hill House, but also organised one of his famous Monster Rallies right here on the grounds. It’s an extraordinary piece of Irish heritage that still resonates through the home today. In more recent times, iconic Irish singers such as Dolores O’Riordan and Sinéad O’Connor have also spent time here, further adding to Hill House’s cultural legacy. Although recently renovated to include modern comforts, the house retains its timeless charm. From the bedrooms, you’ll enjoy sweeping, panoramic views of the legendary Rock of Cashel – a view that never fails to inspire. Despite being just 500 metres from the town centre, Hill House offers a rare sense of tranquillity. Surrounded by greenery and with ample free on-site parking, it feels like a peaceful countryside retreat, all while being within walking distance of Cashel’s restaurants, shops, and historic sites. We're also proud to support sustainable travel. For guests driving electric vehicles, we have EV chargers available on-site. There is a small charge for their use, which helps us continue our commitment to eco-friendly practices and a greener future. Whether you’re visiting for a relaxing getaway, a step back into history, or a base to explore Tipperary, I hope you’ll feel completely at home here. I'm always happy to share local recommendations, from the best spots for a traditional Irish meal to lesser-known gems off the beaten path. Looking forward to welcoming you and sharing a little piece of Cashel’s magic. Warm regards
We want your stay to be as comfortable as possible. If you'd like to meet us during your visit, feel free to send a message and we’ll be happy to stop by and say hello. However, if you prefer a more private stay without any interaction, that's perfectly fine too. We're always just a message away if you need anything! Also, please feel free to sign our visitor book—we’d love to hear about your experience!
One of the things guests love most about staying at Hill House is the unbeatable location, just a short stroll (500 metres) from Cashel town centre, yet tucked away in a peaceful, countryside setting. It truly offers the best of both worlds: tranquillity and convenience. The Rock of Cashel is, without a doubt, the star attraction – and it’s easy to see why. Steeped in history and perched dramatically on a limestone outcrop, it offers breathtaking views and an unforgettable experience. Guests often comment on how magical it is to see the Rock from their bedroom windows at Hill House, especially at sunrise or sunset. Beyond the Rock, there’s plenty to explore. Hore Abbey, a beautiful 13th-century ruin, is a short walk away and perfect for a quiet wander with panoramic views back toward the Rock. The Cashel Folk Village, a small but fascinating museum complex, offers insights into Ireland’s past with displays on the Great Famine, 1916 Rising, and more. When it comes to food, Cashel punches well above its weight. Guests rave about dining at Chez Hans, a fine-dining restaurant located in a converted Gothic church – perfect for a special evening out. For something more casual but equally delicious, The Bishop’s Buttery at Cashel Palace Hotel offers excellent local cuisine in an elegant setting. There are also plenty of cosy cafés and traditional pubs dotted around the town, many featuring live Irish music in the evenings. For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, the surrounding Tipperary countryside is ideal for walking, cycling, and scenic drives. You’re also within easy reach of the Galtee Mountains, Cahir Castle, and Glen of Aherlow – all fantastic day-trip options. Whether guests are here to dive into Ireland’s rich history, savour great food, or simply relax in a beautiful setting, they often say Cashel – and Hill House – leave a lasting impression.
