Swastika Home stay is the only home stay in the Kurseong market zone that is a few minutes’ walks above the highway NH55 which runs towards Darjeeling uphill and Siliguri downhill. The 180 degrees stunning view of mountains to beautiful sunsets and of Nepal can be seen at a far spotted distance, while Kurseong town looks more beautiful from the terrace. Bikers, families, backpackers, work from home employees find themselves at home. A switch-in option to start their day by doing meditation in the prayer hall or to hit the gym is an additional facility provided by the home stay to in-house members. Tours & Travels and the Micro Unit of Food and Beverages are associated with the home stay. The miniature pictorial museum on butterflies is the only one in Kurseong and beautiful designs of butterflies can be noted. When it comes to walkable motorable periphery measurement in regards to distance and time period taken for Kurseong sightseeing, an advantage is always an opportunity when it comes to saving fewer bucks and time as the visiting points are spread across the four directions of Kurseong making fare cheaper and reasonable then rest.
When we talk about the Homestay, it is run by a family where two retired teachers.Swastika Gurung is the only daughter in the house hold and a PhD Research Scholar in Biotechnology whose studies are focused in the mountain region in reconstructing the platform of TOURISM which is a direct result of ‘Environment’ and ‘Climate’ as ‘Resources’ as a result; hill stations have been drawing tourists in many folds since time immemorial. It is also a creation of Employment Pool among many in the network for whose sheer hard work and due devotion; tourist and the home stay host who meets as strangers and departs as friends. It shall indeed form a familiar bond and a new social community minimizing the gaps among two different communities so as to experience the newer knowledge about the place, culture, language, food habits and the most important is the SILENT LANGUAGE OF HOSPITALITY. Kunga as a host is always ready to help in visitors in the pictorial miniature museum of butterflies in the home stay as the original copyright belongs to him. His work has uniqueness set in every step he takes to improve the exisiting facilitated system in the home stay.
A mixture of developing town and with lesser number of land, flat system are cropping up as new fashion of residency. The town has not yet lost its flavor for retaining its charm of semi urbane lifestyle. Senior citizens of all ages walks uphill from bazaar to home along the steps and meandering ways uphill from the highway for which 90 as an age is just a FACTOR; NUMBER to them. This is what the visitors should learn from the practitioners who yearn to LIVE LONG AND FREE!
