1066/5000 Palazzo Majorana is a monumental building in Naples located in via Carlo De Cesare 15 in the San Ferdinando district. The building, as reported on an inscription above the portal, was built in 1754 by the will of Gaetano Majorana, aka Caffarelli, one of the most famous singers of the time. The project is attributed to Ferdinando Sanfelice who built the portal in piperno, framed by pilasters, with a round arch, whose upper frame serves as a support for the upper floor and serves as a balcony on the main floor; inside, on the other hand, there is a single-flight staircase with cross vaults. The cartouche on the portal bears the inscription "Amphyon Thebas, Ego Domum" to underline that as Anfione erected the walls of Thebes with the sound of the flute, Majorana built his palace with the value of his voice. A Neapolitan legend adds that someone would have hung under this inscription a sign with the following inscription "ille cum, tu sine" (he with, you without) in reference to the fact that Caffarelli was a castrato.
