Your host, Badurkhan, is and English Language teacher and Vice Principal of Pottuvil Ladies College. His local knowledge is second-to-none and he will delight in telling stories of his extensive overseas travel experience as well as suggesting interesting excursions in the locality. We have three amazing National Parks very close by - Yala, Lahugala and Kumana where you can spot a plethora of wildlife, including crocodile, elephant and native leopard species, Badurkhan can also assist in arranging surf lessons, tuk-tuk safaris, lagoon safaris, bike and board rental and most other things you may wish to experience in Arugam Bay. Managing the day-to-day business at Sandy Beach is Badurkhan's brother in law - Hassan. Hassan will also be happy to make most arrangements needed for your stay

Built in 2012, Sandy Beach Hotel offers comfortable beach-side accommodation in the world famous resort of Arugam Bay. Our modern, well equipped double bedrooms all offer en-suite shower rooms (hot water showers) and air conditioning for your comfort. Our main house sits 25 meters from the beach-front, offering outstanding views of the mature shaded gardens towards the Indian Ocean. As a family owned / run guest house, we take pride in providing exceptional customer service levels. Our restaurant caters for all tastes - Western, Asian or Vegetarian. Since opening, we have also built family guest rooms within our garden complex offering comfortable accommodation for families and groups of up to five persons within inter-connected rooms. Our customers arrive as guests and leave as life-long friends

Neighbourhood information

Arugam Bay is perhaps best known for its outstanding surf during the season. The main surf-point, considered to be one of the "top 10" surf point in the world, is only a 15-20 minute walk along the beach. For beginners, there are a plethora of points available including Lighthouse Point, Whisky Point, Peanut Farm, Panama Point, Elephant Rock and many more, all within easy reach of Arugam Bay by tuk-tuk. Panama Road in Arugam Bay is lined with small restaurants, local shops and clothes boutiques offering something for everyone.
