An oasis of calm that seems a far cry from the hectic Medina just a few minutes down the road, Dar Al Walidine is a tranquil base in which to escape the dizzying maze that is Marrakech. Set around a lush central courtyard, this charming riad is everything you’d expect of a historic Moroccan palace, reincarnated in true Moorish style to offer an authentic Moroccan experience. Breakfast is a typical Moroccan affair, with homemade flatbreads, fresh grapefruit, and local honeys and yoghurts, all washed down with good coffee, freshly squeezed juices or the ubiquitous mint tea. Everything is plated up in traditional style in handwoven baskets and chrome teapots, and served either on the terrace or in the charming dining room. The menus for lunch and dinner further showcase the best local flavours and dishes, with highlights including rich tagines, fluffy couscous and zingy tomato and aubergine salads. You can also enjoy a traditional Moroccan high tea, featuring classics such as sticky baklava and the sweet local pastries known as ‘gazelle horns’. You can also Kick back and enjoy a massage in true Moroccan style while soaking up the exquisite decor of your surroundings.
Influenced by their origins of northern Morocco, Amina and khalid will transport you on a journey that is both tasteful and cultural. It is all the Moroccan cuisine that is revealed with it's pure authenticity and richness. Dar Al Walidine enjoys a secluded location in the eastern fringes of Marrakech, just a 3 minute walk from the mesmerising whirlwind that is the Medina and a 15 minutes walk to the famous Jamaa El Fna Square– the world-famous labyrinthine souk where you can find everything from twinkling lanterns and exotic spices to sheep’s heads. You’ll be within easy reach of all the city’s historic treasures, including UNESCO-listed Djemaa El Fna square and the seriously grand Bahia Palace, as well as more 21st-century attractions like the captivating Yves Saint Laurent Museum. If you don’t feel like walking, there’s a bus stop just a 5-minute walk from your doorstep with excellent connections into the city. Marrakech Menara Airport is only eight kilometres away.
