Riad Sapphire & Spa is both modern and ancient. The owners renovated a crumbling town house belonging to one of the prominent families of Marrakech. It was an opportunity to use traditional Marrakchi techniques and designs and also to bring in elements of modernity like space and light - through the use of elements like glass balconies (etched in a traditional Moroccan design). Traditional floor and wall treatments using tadelakt are used in what are totally modern, comfortable bathrooms. Elegant marble flooring on the ground floor and stairwell add to the feeling of luxury. Simplicity and comfort are the watchwords to evoke a feeling of peace and serenity - a wonderful antidote to the busyness of the outside world in the medina of Marrakech. We hope to have created a haven of tranquillity, a space where you can unwind and relax on your holidays or city break.

We are twin sisters who enjoy design, books, films, yoga, and immersing ourselves in foreign cultures. We find that Marrakech is a great source for creativity - the art scene is vibrant, new designs are innovative and delightful. There always seem to be new exciting events happening, new interesting boutiques and restaurants opening. We love that about Marrakech.

Riad Sapphire and Spa is in a quiet residential neighbourhood of the old city of Marrakech - just 5 minutes' work to the start of the souks and 15 minutes to the main square, Place Jemaa el Fna'. The well-known restaurant, Dar Zellije, is just around the corner. We are also close to Dar el Bacha, the old Governor's Palace, and Latitude 31 restaurant. We're also just a short away from Dar Yacout, another very well-known restaurant.
