We are excited to welcome you to our spacious and serene space. Guests have their own cozy, clean and quiet space with a large queen size bedroom, separate lounge, and private bathroom. Everything you need for a great stay. Guests will have their own private entrance / patio and seating area which provides a view over the garden and orchard and with easy access to Kowhai Park. Due to the unique location of the house, off street Parking is not available. Guests can park nearby on the street and have access to a trolly for bringing things to the house. Our home was built in the 1920’s and the character has been well maintained throughout the house. The in-house suite is tucked away from the main road down a walkway, it has several steps up to the private patio and entrance. Guests can have as much privacy as they like during their stay as we reside in a separate part of the house. Please note that there is no kitchen/ dining area within the suit. Guests have access to a kettle, toaster, and mini fridge. We have a heat pump hot water system. The home does not have a TV. We can arrange for a ‘movie night’ in the lounge with our projector upon request. A barbecue is also available on request. The private bathroom has a shower over a claw-foot bath which does require stepping into the bath (in case of mobility issues). Guests are invited to relax and wander in our organic permaculture garden and orchard. We are visited by Tui, Piwakawaka (Fantail), Tauhou (Silvereye), Kereru ( native wood pigeon), and often have Manu-kai-hua-rakau (Song Thrush) nesting around the house. In the evenings you can often hear the ruru (morepok owl) nearby. Our property is located opposite Kowhai Park and the room, lounge and patio overlook our gardens, fruit trees and the Kowhai Park Arboretum. The Whanganui River is a 2-minute walk away. Please note that as the room faces Anzac Parade you can hear some traffic noise from the room. Free tea & coffee and unlimited broadband.
Kia Ora! Thank you for considering staying with us! We look forward to welcoming you to our home. We are, Stacy - Canadian (NZ resident) and Jared is a local Kiwi, and our beloved rescue dog (5), Woodsy Beans. We both live lightly (zero waste), grow organic in our permaculture gardens and love exploring new places - the sights, sounds, and tastes and meeting new folks along the way!
Close to town, yet quiet and tucked away. Our home is located opposite Kowhai Park and 2 minutes from the River and a 15-20 minute walk to town. We recently installed a 'Little Free Library' by the road where you'll be parking - this has created a lot of beautiful interactions with the neighbours! Our home is tucked away, nestled down a hidden walkway. We'll be sure to send you detailed directions!
