Property information

Tongariro Estate offers breathtaking beautiful mountain views. Accommodation is modern, cosy, warm, clean and comfy. There is door parking, views from rooms, heatpump & wifi. Excellant location. Your base for adventure. Close to the ski fields of Mt. Ruapehu, the famous Tongariro Crossing, bike tracks and plenty of walking tracks too. Ride the Sky Waka Gondola for amazing sightseeing. Best spot for your next peaceful getaway. Enjoy all that NZ has to offer by making the most of our areas activities. After your day in the fresh air outdoors return to your home away from home and take that well earned rest!

Neighbourhood information

National Park is a small urban village with BEAUTIFUL VIEWS so take your camera. You might be able to capture a good shot of the VOLCANOES, Mt.Ngauruhoe, Mt.Tongariro and Mt. Ruapehu at sunset when the snow turns pink after a clear sunny day. National Park is at a very high altitude on the central plateau. Convenient place to stay for those fit people to HIKE THE TONGARIRO CROSSING. It is also an ideal starting point for MOUNTAIN BIKING to bike tracks nearby. There is a CLIMBING WALL in Findlay St. The area has a well equipped 4 Square to buy supplies. There are 2 SKI RENTALS as it is 15 mins from nearest SKIFIELD AT MT. RUAPEHU. Ski Biz @ The Alpine Centre on Carroll St. is the place to buy or rent ski gear or hire all necessary hiking gear. Eivins Ski Hire is next to the 4 SQUARE/PETROL STATION. Get your morning coffee fix here at the FOOD CART, open 7-3. There is a small primary school and a PARK/PLAYGROUND on Buddo St. Many EATING PLACES such as The Park Hotel for a cosy meal out and a drink by the fire. (Option to order takeaway from any of their delicious menu such as yummy pizzas). The Schnapps bar is open for lunch and dinner and where you can have a fun game of MINIGOLF. The Station Cafe is open Wednesday to Monday 9.00am to 3.00pm. CamoKai takeaways are literally across the road from us (no.13) for awesome burgers or fish and chips (Wed. to Sat. only, 5pm-8pm). National Park is also not far from WHAKAPAPA village. Visit the interesting information centre next door to the Chateau to get some ideas of what to do during your stay. (And there's plenty to do winter or summer! ) Start your 2 hour TARANAKI FALLS circuit hike from the Skotel. Take the Bruce Road up the mountain to the Whakapapa skifield and the SKYWAKA GONDOLA, which is popular for sightseeing all year round, to the highest restaurant in New Zealand! Staying with us you'll find most places are within easy walking distance.
