This warm, modern and stylish luxury guest suite is attached to our family home, but is entirely self-contained with its own entrance. There is some potential for noise transfer from our young family, but we always try to keep this to an absolute minimum. // The eco-retreat’s stunning, unobstructed panoramic views overlook the majestic Fiordland mountains, Lake Te Anau & Te Anau township. // Furnished with modern amenities including a private hot tub (spa pool) and central heating, this property was built with sustainability at the forefront of its design. Finished with quality linen & unlimited WIFI, this is the perfect base from which to explore Fiordland and its many activities including Milford / Doubtful Sound. // Minimal light pollution allows for a truly magnificent night sky! // ________ * The retreat is heated using underfloor central heating, as well as passive solar design (large double-glazed windows & polished concrete floors that retain the heat). Air conditioning keeps the space cool during summer. // * Solar panels provide electricity during your stay, and guests enjoy delicious rainwater, which is safe to drink. // Washing machine & tumble dryer: While these are not listed as amenities, guests are welcome to use our laundry facilities, which are located in our garage. Access requires a short walk outside. Laundry detergent is provided. // The house has three beds within three bedrooms, but a forth bed (a trundle bed in the single bedroom) can be set up with advanced notice - please just ask! // There is one main bathroom (with shower, bath and toilet), as well as a separate additional toilet. A heated outdoor shower is also available, which is located next to the hot tub.
PLEASE NOTE: Fiordland Eco-Retreat is a luxury guest suite attached to our family home, but is entirely self-contained with its own entrance. // We’re passionate about Fiordland, and love to get out and explore it whenever we get the chance. Having a young son means that we are enjoying a slightly slower pace of life these days, but we’re looking forward to being able to get out and do more hiking, mountain biking and skiing / snowboarding as a family. // Glen is an Ecologist, and runs the takahē programme here in Te Anau. He has a wealth of knowledge on New Zealand's plants and wildlife, and can help answer any questions that you may have. // I (Susanna) grew up in England, and travelled extensively until I found Te Anau in 2012, which I instantly fell in love with and deemed to be ‘the most beautiful part of the most beautiful country in the world’. I’ve held many tourism-focussed positions since moving here, including sharing my knowledge of Fiordland at the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre. // I’m now extremely grateful to be able to spend every waking moment with our young son, and to help guests to enjoy our little piece of paradise.
The house is in a rural location, yet only 6km from Te Anau. // TRAVEL TIMES * Te Anau: 6 minute drive. * Milford Sound: 2 hour drive. * Manapouri: 25 minute drive (to catch the boat that takes you to magnificent Doubtful Sound). // ACTIVITIES Fiordland is hard to beat for the outdoors enthusiast: * spectacular boat cruises; * incredible hiking, including three of New Zealand's nine Great Walks (Kepler Track, Routeburn Track & Milford Track); * cycling; * mountain biking; * kayaking; * fishing; * horse riding / quad biking; * helicopter scenic flights; * star gazing / ‘southern lights’ (aurora) viewing when the conditions are right - ask us about our stargazing tours; * one of the most scenic golf courses in the world; * amazing, unique wildlife including glow worms and takahē; and * majestic ‘World Heritage Status’ landscapes. // Fiordland truly is an awe-inspiring place. With so much to see and do in the area, recuperating back ‘home’ at this luxurious, unique retreat is the perfect way to end your Fiordland adventures.
