Built in 1916 this amazing Gothic style Church building took 3 years to build. We fell in love with this unrestored building 13 years ago and took on a epic restoration of 'Grand Designs' proportion. For lovers of unique architecture and history this building oozes a distinctive character, charm and romance of its own. The decorative finishes include ornate ceilings, plasterworks, chandeliers and an interior fitted out to the highest standard. Each apartment is private and independant and accessed of a central lobby. The mezzanine floor and gallery area houses a collection of antiquities and pottery and with its 6.5 metre ceiling astounds most people. The outdoor garden area is private, usually with an abundance of flowers and enables guests to enjoy a BBQ area if they wish. Free Parking is available right at the door and once here the supermarket adn restaurants are right on the doorstep and walking distance.
I am passionate about preserving and restoring historic buildings. A serial renovator and Interior designer and stylist. I am a lover of arts and crafts and well crafted things. The Gallery Mezzanine area displays some of my pottery, sculptures and paintings. My 3 bedroom residence is on site and I am usually mostly home based in my garden or studio working on a project.
We love the central location of this area with the ski fields of Mt Dobson and Roundhill so close, the lakes, ocean, hunting and fishing etc. It is a great area for families and those that the love the outdoors. Everything is so close that you can spend 2-3 days here and day trip to other places easily which makes for a much more relaxing holiday. We grow some of the best wines, fruit, veges and produce in the world in our area so for gourmet lovers there are lots of Artisan places to visit in Geraldine, Opihi vineyard and NZ's top restaurants are actually found in our area. Timaru offers good shopping with Ballantynes Department Store and the piazza offering a view of Caroline Bay and the beach while you enjoy coffee. A day trip to Oamaru is a must to see the Historic Precinct, Steampunk and the amazing galleries and 'old world' shops. See the penguins, get a photo on a penny farthing bicycle and enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery and unique cafes and bars. Stop at Riverstone, just south of the Waitaki Bridge and enjoy spectacular organic gardens, an award winning restaurant and Dots famous castle. We are happy to share our favourite spots with guests.
