Comfortable accommodation and great hospitality from the owner and staff of Kohatu Bar and Cafe. Nothing was too much trouble for Deb, the proprietor. Great cafe food and coffee available too.

Old hotel well on the way to being restored to former glory. Owner committed to thoughtful and attentive service. Also recommend food in the restaurant.

Location was great and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was delicious and filled us up for biking. There is a charging station for your bikes which is a bonus. I would recommend Flat Rock as a good place to stay.

Kohatu Flat Rock is a Cafe, Bar and B&B and is a hospitality hotspot for both Travellers and Locals. It is situated in a stunning historical and rural location just 40 minutes drive from Nelson, Motueka and Murchison. Having the Great Taste Cycle Trail running through the property means it is the perfect stop for a coffee, lunch or overnight break on your journey. Tapawera Township is 8km down the road and is a gateway to the Kahurangi National Park. There are several shorter tracks accessible from Tapawera but the main attraction in this corner is the Wangapeka Track which crosses to the West Coast south of Karamea. Kohatu Flat Rock Cafe is on a junction of Motueka Valley Highway, Wakefield Kohatu Highway and Kohatu Kawatiri Highway. A continental breakfast and first coffee free is available daily at the bed and breakfast.
Deb Coleman moved from the West Coast in March 2022 and plans to develop this property to include EV Chargers and E bike chargers. She has organised The Kohatu Sunday Market which has just started and is small but she is hoping that this will be a big attraction over the Summer Months. There are always things to do around Kohatu with Tramping, Cycling and Fishing all being at her Door Step. Come meet her two Kuni Kuni Pigs, Mozart and Wolf Gang or get a day pass to Quinneys Bush 2 km over the Bridge. The possibilities are endless
