Once a horse stable, the space has been thoughtfully renovated to offer modern comfort while preserving its historical character. Located in the heart of Zemun’s old town, just steps from the local green market, Zemun Fortress, Glavna Street, and the Danube River, it’s the perfect base for exploring history, culture, and local life — all within walking distance.
As a long-time member of the Booking community and a passionate traveler myself, I understand what makes a stay truly comfortable and memorable. This historic home became too small for our growing family, so we moved just 5 minutes away — but it’s still very close to my heart. About the Neighborhood: Zemun – Where History Meets the Danube The oldest recorded name for this part of the city, Taurunum, dates back to the 12th century. The name Zemun is believed to come from the Slovenian word zemlin, meaning “dugout homes” — once common in the area. Today, Zemun is one of Belgrade’s most charming and unique neighborhoods, known for its blend of history, river life, and vibrant culture. Stroll along the Zemunski Kej (Danube promenade), enjoy a meal at one of the famous fish restaurants, or soak in the views from Gardoš Hill, crowned by the iconic 1896 Millennium Tower. The apartment is just a short walk from Muhar Square, one of Zemun’s main crossroads and the end of Glavna Street, the heart of local life.
