Baan Orapin is a great choice, a little gem in Chiang Mai. I know that you are paying a premium at this price point in Chiang Mai, but the place is a historical residence with classic Thai architecture and nice decor. Every component of the...

Beautiful Lana building immaculately maintained. I’ve been coming for years and it is as lovely and welcoming as ever. It’s also in, to my mind, the best part of Chiang Mai. In a peaceful area five minutes in a Grab from the action. But most...

Baan Orapin has been our family home in Chiang Mai for three generations since 1914. The original Baan Orapin is a century-old, colonial Lanna-styled teak wood mansion. In its early days, the property was home to the family of Phor Dang, a landlord and a merchant who came to Chiang Mai and built the house. Later, small one-storey wooden houses were built surrounding the original mansion and rented out to the Chiang Mai locals in the Wat Gate neighborhood, creating a small community of local Chiang Mai artisans and merchants within the gates of Baan Orapin. In 2003, the first guest building, designed with respect to Lanna architecture and the original mansion’s characters, was completed and Baan Orapin Bed & Breakfast opened its gates to travelers from all over the world. It became an oasis of calm in the midst of the evergrowing city of Chiang Mai. Today, the original mansion combined with three unique guest buildings and a longstanding heritage makes Baan Orapin a cultural and an architectural marvel that longs to provide tranquility for travelers in Chiang Mai.
We're a quiet family who loves peace and calm and the local charm of the small city of Chiang Mai! We've been accommodating guests since 2003 and our priority is providing the most atmospheric, unique stay experience in a quiet and peaceful traditional Lanna-styled Thai home for guests who wants to experience the local culture of Chiang Mai.
Located 10 minutes from Chiang Mai Old City, our bed & breakfast sits in the heart of the culturally-rich Wat Ket neighborhood. Wat Ket area was once Chiang Mai’s most prosperous trading hub. Today, it prospers in culture and diversity. Cultural festivities are celebrated here, as it is one of Chiang Mai’s oldest & most historic area. Our location is within walking distance of Chiang Mai old town, but just far enough from the bustle of the city for a peaceful sleep. Many popular design boutiques, restaurants, and cafés are located in Wat Ket neighborhood, such as Sop Moei Arts, Vila Cini, and Woo Cafe. Various local eateries are also found within a few minutes walk from our property. A noodle shop and a popular local cake cafe are located just across the street. Many popular restaurants including the Good View restaurant, the Riverside, and Samsen Villa can be reached just further down the road in both directions. Most importantly, the iconic Warorot market is just a walk across the foot bridge away!
