The location was great. The wine and cheese with lemonade and the continental breakfast were very appreciated. The garden setting and chaise lounges were wonderful because we had to check out by 11, but our ferry left at 4. The water jugs were a nice thought. The coupon with Avalon Grill was very nice.

Everything was great. Breakfast was very good, and the view and surrounding environment, beautiful. Of special note, and quite outstanding was the service provided by staff to promptly transport us 1/2 mile or so up and down the steep hill, to the main part of town and back. They also picked us up at the ferry, and then going back met us at the ferry with all of our luggage later in the day after we checked out.

Very quaint small town with cute shops, restaurants, great views, and plenty to explore. Can be done on a budget, but the touristy activities will drain your wallet. Quiet town, but noisy and crowded when cruise ships pull up so plan accordingly.

Beautiful place to visit with lots of shops, restaurants, excursions and beaches. Be sure to book excursions in advance of your stay because the cruise ships stop here so most of the excursions get sold out in advance.

I loved the calm relaxing vibe.
I loved the calm relaxing vibe. It felt like a quaint sea side village from the past. Everything was very clean and the walking on the beach frontage or the walk to the casino were very pleasant for us seniors. I also saw young families with small children which appeared to be ideal for that phase of family life because the beach is so close. I hadn't been to Avalon for over 20 years and was extremely happy with the way it has evolved and the pleasant atmosphere. Enjoyed it very much, but if I come back with my young adult grand daughters, they would probably want to do more of the activities which are available.

Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving.
Our observation of Avilon is that is evolving. There are more small cars. The businesses seem to be sustainable and pretty much thriving, and all is a positive experience.
Catalina is a mere 27-30 miles from where we live in So CA, but it could be HI, South of France or Southern Italy.
I think, just go there with the intent of slowing down and enjoying slower time and removing yourself from the balance of hectic life elsewhere. It is a good place to relax.

We visited at start of January (still school holidays) and found reduced restaurant and shop options. Restaurants tended to close early.
Easy 1hour comfortable ferry crossing to island with Catalina Express from Long Beach. Saw dolphins en route.
Just few minutes walk to main town, shops, restaurants and many hotels from ferry terminal.
Plenty of walks, but hilly. Fabulous views & plants/wildlife. Mostly golf carts or bikes and limited cars/local mini bus to get around.
Easy access to public restrooms around Avalon.
Would visit spring onwards for future visit.

Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days.
Avalon can be magical to visit for a couple of days. Lots of activities, food options, and shopping. It's charming and beautiful. The M restaurant is one of my favorites, with good breakfast and lunch options. At dinner, it's a good Italian restaurant.
Although there is no in-room coffee maker, there is a wonderful coffee shop, Catalina Coffee and Cookie Company, within walking distance. The location is walking distance to everything including the golf course. Warning, it is an uphill walk to the hotel and golf course, but it wasn't horrible. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to store our bags for the day as we explored and waited for our departure time. Overall this is a great place and we will be back!
They were not allowed to serve breakfast (because of covid restrictions) so they gave us vouchers worth $5 each to use a the Brew House, which has yummie pastries and the best coffee on the island. I have stayed in many historic hotels, and the room was large by those standards. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and helpful beyond anything we had experienced.
our stay at Aurora Hotel was excellent. The hospitality was great, staff was very friendly.
Rooms were clean and the roof top deck is a great add on.
They also helped us check in early. And next day they hold off the baggage for us and check out.
And they ordered some deserts also as we were celebrating our Anniversary
The renovations are spectacular! It presents like a new hotel yet quietly maintains its classic hundred year history. The lobby is beautiful/serene and the rooms are luxurious. The beds are dreamy! This hotel is an excellent choice and just became my sister and my top choice on the island!
Excellent. Had to coordinate with hotel to send complimentary taxi as hotel driver too other guests who arrived before us. Hotel delivers luggage to Catalina Flyer but missed the drop off time and I had to call to get it to the dock. All worked out fine. Hotel driver Carl is a gem.
Super friendly staff! I told them it was my bday and I received a present!! So kind of them.
The room itself didn’t have a view but it was modern, clean and comfortable and directly across from the beach!! So best views as soon as you stepped out of the hotel!
When we book this hotel, it said it has it's own restaurant and bar, when we arrive, the staff said it was both closed. And the swimming pool was not heat up for the guest use, no body using the pool, and they covered the whirlpool as a sitting area.
The Catalina Island Inn was perfect for our stay. We enjoyed breakfast on the balcony over sized bathroom. The bathroom had full sized shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The bed was very comfortable too. Everything was perfect!
Love this hotel, it's right on the sea front. Facilities are good. Cheese and wine at 4.30pm included in price, also coffee tea and pastrys at breakfast time. Would definitely use this hotel again if I'm ever visiting Catalina.
It was a little small but I noticed alot of the hotels were like that in Catalina. It worked out though and was very clean! We weren’t in the hotel to much because we were out but the hotel stay was immaculate.
I liked that the hotel was very clean. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was perfect, it was walking distance to everything. We definitely experienced a true Catalina Island stay.
Hotel location was great and this was the most affordable place on the island. We stayed here in 2018 and really enjoyed it as it was MUCH nicer then. After this visit I would not recommend.
The hotel is very nice, however my cousin had some disability on her knees and the hotel and including the island does not have much accommodation for disabled visitors.
Excellent location in the middle of Avalon, overlooking the cutest little market place area. Lovely decor, comfortable and the jacuzzi on the roof was an added bonus!
The Hotel was sweet and quaint. Super close to main town. The manager at hotel was truly so considerate and accommodating. He’s the right guy for the job!
