Ever stay somewhere and think "Wow, this would make the perfect weekend retreat, I wonder if it would ever come up for sale?" I stayed at one in Florida once, and it's now booked 3 years out. No kidding. This is one of those places. I've stayed...

The schoolhouse is adorable & quaint. Furnishings are an appropriate mix of vintage & modern! The bedding & towels are of good quality, not your average discount store brand. Instructions, house rules & history of the property well documented in a...

The property makes an impression from the moment you get there. Bright red school house set amongst woods with views of hill and mountains in the distance is very picturesque. Then the big open space when you walk is cozy and tastefully designed...

The school house was clean, well appointed and soooo charming. I only stayed a night but would've stayed a week if I would have known how wonderful it was.

The property was immaculate and comfy with high-end features. We usually go glamping in New Paltz but this year we decided to try a new place. This was real comfort while still being surrounded by trees. The neighborhood feel is great - as a...

Het oude schooltje is heel goed gerenoveerd en zeer comfortabel ingericht! Het geheel kan zo in 1 van de woonbladen! Het ontbreekt je werkelijk aan niets! Locatie is top! Rustig aan de rand van het bos en toch heel dicht bij het dorpje. Helaas...

The Schoolhouse is this great slice of history to experience. Many families in the area have long generational histories in the area, and it feels cool to tap into those roots vicariously by staying on the property. It is also a charming, efficient space. The main room is a big box with high ceilings and tall windows. The ceiling is painted wood beadboard. The bedrooms are comfortable and spacious, and there's even a washer / dryer neatly tucked away behind louvered doors. The kitchen is intimate with full size /oven stove and plenty of room for two to prep and cook. The bathroom is modern with a lighting that is friendly and easy as you put yourself together. It is a corner lot, but tucked behind shrubs and trees forming a perfect barrier of privacy. If successful with this venture, we look forward to adding more amenties and refining the property continuously.
I enjoy bringing an experience that goes that little extra mile to make for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I love the surprise guests have at the spaciousness and luxe feel of the interior, or when they comment that every detail was thought about. It's always a bit curious to me as these are standards I think we should always expect. As the Swedish would say, "Lagom", or just the right amount.
The neighborhood is very peaceful and quiet with a steady smattering of exercise walkers, cyclists, and dog walkers, and family strolls throughout the day. The properties are adequately spaced to full countryside with some gorgeous sunsets. Of course, this is just the immediate neighborhood. Black.dot cafe on Main Street will serve you up a delicious cup of coffee, or bagels at Bodacious Bagels. Or, take a 20 minute drive to the Ashokan Reservoir and walk the paths around the reservoir serenely cupped at the bottom of the mountain ranges all around. Or, a 20 minute drive to Woodstock or New Paltz, or Kingston, or Saugerties, or 10 minutes to Rosendale, and more.
