Such a special place in the heart of the beautiful Matera. We were warmly welcomed after our taxi ride booked by the hotel. Anne explained us everything about Matera with great recommendations! She showed us to our beautiful room in an old matera house. The hotel has an amazing aesthetic that resonates well with the city. The breakfast is also very much appreciated with nice music.

The way they’ve blended the charm and heritage of the old building with elegant, modern interiors and thoughtful design is simply stunning. Every corner feels special, and it’s the kind of place where you just want to sit, take it all in, and enjoy the magical ambience. The location is perfect for exploring Matera, and the valet service made everything effortless. We left our car at their partner parking and were picked up directly, which made the whole arrival experience smooth and stress-free. Even though the hotel is relatively new, it feels like it has been welcoming guests for many years. That is a true credit to the management and the entire team, who were warm, professional, and made us feel so well looked after. The food was outstanding, the cocktails were delicious, and the whole atmosphere was romantic and unforgettable. Relais & Châteaux should be very proud to have Vetera Matera in their collection. We are already looking forward to coming back and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Staying at MOYΣEION felt like stepping back into the world of Magna Graecia. The welcome ritual performed by Davide made the whole experience really special and set the tone for our stay. The service was outstanding, the staff incredibly helpful, and the cave pool was just breathtaking—my friend Pete especially loved the statues surrounding it. The togas, rituals, and attention to detail made the whole visit immersive and memorable. I also recommend booking an Ape Car tour through the front desk when you arrive—it’s the perfect way to explore Matera. Plus, if you call ahead, they’ll even arrange a pickup from the bus station, which is really convenient.

The host helped us change the room as the first one was smaller than our needs. It was clean and close to the tourist attractions. Breakfast was very good!

Charming hosts, who just ooze warmth and greeting. Our room had a little balcony - the bed was super comfortable. In the morning we walked down to the cafe on the ground floor where a buffet spread was laid out for breakfast, great selection of sweet and savoury.
