A great place to relax by the beach.
A great place to relax by the beach. Ettalong has a small village town to service its people and visitors, and if you want more it is a small drive away. The beach faces to the sea opening and has a lifesaving club to manage it. There are heaps of cafes and restaurants around to cater for everyone's pallet including a modern RSL club with great food and friendly staff. Accommodation places are everywhere at various prices and sizes, so it depends on what you needs and pocket is as to what you can book. But booking in advance is a must if you want to get anything on the foreshore. The same goes for the cafes and restaurants on the foreshore during peak season time, booking is a must. Then down the street a little ways (maybe 1.5km) is an Italian forum, where there are heaps of cafes, speciality shops and craft & gallery shops, definitely worth a visit. You can also take the ferry from Ettalong to Palm Beach, a lovely day trip elsewhere. The place is 60K from Sydney so an easy drive, and great for a weekend away, mid week escape or a holiday with the family. The Matra Hotel is great, as it has 1, 2, 3 bedroom self contained accommodation and is on the foreshore, has a large swimming pool (not heated though - pity) and a gym. We only live 40 minutes away but love to just spend the night here every so often to enjoy the hotel, restaurants, pool and Ettalong beach. The location is beautiful and the resort makes you feel like your walking through a little village in Italy. If you are lucky enough to be greeting by Peter at the front desk. He is so helpful.
