It gets very busy so would recommend going I the morning to avoid jostling with others trying to take photos. The actual checkpoint is just a wooden booth so people might find it smaller than anticipated. Also be careful of a small group playing a street game trying to entice tourist to try and win 50euro. We had booked NH Collection Berlin Mitte am Checkpoint Charlie, but when we realized our train would arrive at Berlin Central Station instead of Berlin Südkreuz, we contacted the hotel about two hours before arriving to ask if we could change our stay to NH Collection Berlin Mitte Friedrichstrasse, which is just one metro stop from Berlin Central Station.
