Good to get there early as so much to see and can easily spend a whole day there. If you're into the gory bits, I'd visit the exhibit on torture early as tends to be a queue; the same applies to the Crown jewels. The architecture and history there were amazing, but be prepared to walk a lot of hills and steps. We enjoyed seeing the crown jewels and were lucky there wasn't too much of a queue to get in to see them. In this area of London, almost every step you take along the Thames river gives you a feeling for Charles Dickens characters, but you must go by foot get around the back streets and explore. Despite the new high rise buildings there are still many old houses and warehouses that evoke a sense of history.
