For me, as a teacher with an April break, living in Maine, it was an easy day drive. I did not want to go all the way to Florida, as my family of 5 had done for many years. I hopped in my car at 3a.m. in Maine, and was at Virginia Beach by 530p.m. My son and I stayed the whole week. We discovered Virginia Beach the year before, returned this past April break, and will continue to do so. It is beautiful. We stayed on the quieter side, and that was perfect for us. We went exploring this trip. We went to the state park and hiked around, I discovered Virginia Beach Winery storefront, and just finished my last bottle of wine from there, wishing I had bought more, as it was delicious. We also discovered some wonderful local eateries recommended by locals. Its a wonderful recharge in April! Oh, also The Norfolk Botanical Gardens was a beautiful place! Can't wait to go back and see the new additions next year!

The beach at Virginia Beach is big and beautiful. In comparing beaches, I'm reminded of Ocean City , NJ, at low tide, for size of beach from water to boardwalk area. In Ocean City, the sand is light; in VA, the sand is a grittier brown. Nice beach. The town area looks seedy to me. Having restaurants within walking distance was definitely a plus. Cafe Ole (at least I think that’s what it was called) was a great spot. Delicious food and great staff. The lack of specialty shops along the strip was unfortunate. The stores that were there were repetitive block after block. There were the usual beachy stores, ice cream and arcades. We stayed Oceanside and when the weather became inclement there wasn’t much to do at all in the immediate area. A 10-15 minute drive brings you to where the chain restaurants, larger stores and indoor activities are.ToniUnited States - 10Scored 10

The staff was awesome great service, also with thing and places to go. The only bad thing was on my last night the hotel quests upstairs was extremly noisey till 3 in the morning. The other nights was nice and silent.

Stench of dog waste permeated the halls one day. It was being cleaned but needed deodorized. Pool is small, old, limited seating. Several lights in the room didn’t work. Balcony had 1 chair and a/c unit leaking all over it the whole time. This hotel is not on the boardwalk. You have to walk about a mile to get to the boardwalk.
