The situation of the hotel was ideal, by the water and within a parkland setting. It was surprisingly quiet most of the time. At night there was some noise from the airport but it wasn't too obtrusive. The nearby children's play area was a bonus. The pool was useful and the spa very pleasant. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options. The hotel decor was clean, tasteful and modern.

    Always come when the zoo opens as parking can be tricky if...

    Always come when the zoo opens as parking can be tricky if you end up in the back areas. DO take the tour bus, as the ZOO is VERY hilly. Do ride the Skyline..pretty cool to see the San Diego skyline. The best restaurant is right near the entrance, the others are not very good. Bring a hat and water as it can get very hot. Plan on spending a full 8 hours if you want to see things. Stop off at the kids play area, if you have kids. That is their favorite part. Kids don't care that much about the animals. They get bored with all the walking.

    This zoo is amazing and we were able to see it all in a single day (9am-6pm). Get a paper map when you enter as it was much more helpful than the app. I would start the day on the bus and sit on the right side of the upper deck for the best views. You are allowed to bring in your own food and drinks but the kids meals at the restaurants were large and a great deal if you are are purchasing on-site.

    We opted for the Safari Park this trip -- more spread out and fewer folks... delightfully close to the animals. Hours of fun and so many steps. The ticket now includes the train/tram around the Africa exhibits. A great day

    We spent a week at Daniel and Ricardo’s house. The house is very cozy and clean. There is a parking space, the kitchen is fully equipped, all the conditions for a comfortable stay. The house is in a great location, very easy to get to the main attractions We highly recommend staying at Serenity House near Gaslamp, San Diego Zoo & Petco 👍🌟

    The hotel is conveniently located for access to the San Diego Zoo. The room was very comfortable, although the bathroom’s central location in the room didn’t offer much privacy. The staff were excellent and made our stay even more enjoyable.

    Animals are very well taken care of but definitely go to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park if you only have time for one zoo rather than the more famous San Diego Zoo. Much better to see animals in settings closer to their natural habitat rather than regular enclosures. Can get expensive if you opt for the extras but we utilised the african safari bus thats part of the ticket price and got a special on the balloon ride. If you love animals and zoos then you will conside tired legs from wandering around this vast place a small price to pay. The Cheetah run demo is worth it for the small glimpse you get to see one in full flight, just hang around after everyone leaves and watch over the fence as the keepers give info about the cheetahs and photo ops to those that paid $100ea extra. Free unless you want the photo.
