The host was incredibly friendly and really made us feel so welcome. The onsen was so lovely and the property has an incredible view. It is on the hill so if you don’t want to walk or don’t have a car be aware it’s a bit of a climb but it’s worth it for the view! The duvets and beds were really comfortable, AC was great and the place was absolutely spotless, very clean. We would absolutely recommend this to anyone and would love to stay here again!

All services — at a top notch. Great choice for a few days relax from Tokyo hype.

We had a wonderful stay at Ryokan Asunaro The beautiful surroundings and authentic Japanese experience will stay with us forever. The welcoming feeling at all times, the beautifully appointed rooms with everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The dining experience both at the Kaiseki dinner and the Japanese breakfast each morning was incredible. We have never experienced anything like it before.

Just a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station, Oyado Koto No Yume offers Japanese-style rooms with a colourful touch. The property is very quiet and relaxing, staff is very detailed and accommodating, everyone is so helpful. Yukata were provided for us to use which is a plus experience . The property is just 5 mins from the station, old town is a few blocks away. We ordered the Japanese breakfast which was a great choice! The room is convenient , just the AC is not working as well.

Located in a 100 year-old Registered Tangible Cultural Property, Ryokan Hostel K's House is located in Shizuoka, a 7-minute walk from JR Ito Train Station. The staff were especially friendly and helpful, especially Marta.

Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views. A really beautiful hotel with many details thought of. So many complimentary things offered which really enhance your stay from the robes and slippers you change into when you arrive, ice lollies after the onsen, noodles in the evening, marshmallows for roasting on the terrace, it feels like the staff really want to go the extra mile to surprise and delight you. The rooms were beautiful and comfortable and the onsens themselves an amazing experience that we all loved, even our children age 10,12 and 14 enjoyed them. The food was very traditional and incredibly special with exceptional presentation. The dinner is expensive but a real treat for the senses. I highly recommend the breakfasts as well. We took the bus to Kamikochi for easy hiking/walking which was perfect. All in all the most perfect start to our Japanese adventure. I’m so glad we had some time in the mountains before Kyoto and Tokyo. Most staff speak some English but google translate is helpful if you need to say more than the basics!

Exceptional setting surrounded by forest. Simple and high quality design with attention to detail everywhere across the house: materials, lights, blinds, equipment both indoor and outdoor. Very comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, quality toiletries, fantastic sauna, onsen, pool, phone chargers in every room etc. Relaxing place with Japanese flair. Fridge was prepared with soft drinks and beer.
