Easy access to transport some of which was free for tourists, particularly the buses and the trains. Boat ferries run everywhere around the lake quaint side streets with shops and restaurants and bars. We visited friends here and enjoyed the views over the lake and wandering around the waterfront. The city is known for the obvious focus of boating, bathing, and relaxing, but we also found a nice, downtown with historical charm. A little off the beaten track, but plenty to do.
A little off the beaten track, but plenty to do. Boating, swimming, rent bikes and visit the towns nearby. Hop on the bus (very simple to use and covered by the hotel tourist card) to visit nearby towns, get to the train station, or the ferry station. We were able to visit Lindau-Insel on a day trip by bus/train, spend 5-6 hours there, and still made it back in time for dinner and watching the sunset over the lake. The heart of the village is mainly pedestrian/cycles only. There are many good restaurants to choose from. You can rent motor boats to take out on the lake, or swim in the crystal clear water from the many “beaches”. Lovely old town on the Bodensee and Rhine. Beautiful walks along the River and Bodensee, very chilled, relaxed vibe along the river and around the lake. Make sure you go to Mainau Inselblumen, like Kew Gardens on steroids, but on an island.Guest review byBrowner
