We are so glad we stayed here. It is on the north end of Ambergis Caye. Not having been before, we didn't realize what a good move that was. It was quiet, out of the fray of town, and had a wonderful stretch of beach. The resort may have been full but you barely noticed because of how it is set up. Everyone is in a villa, and ours was right on the beach, upstairs, with an epic view. Room was clean, perfect size, and the kitchenette was well equipped. It is remote, so you will want to use that kitchenette. The closest market is at least 20 min away each way and is small, so we learned the hard way, it is worth having your shuttle bring you to a store before you arrive. We did rent a golf cart through the hotel for our whole stay and appreciated the flexibility it afforded us. The staff are all lovely and helpful.

Hôtel was clean and room was spacious. Hot water was quick and wifi was fast. The hotel is located near the airport but the flights weren’t at any time that would affect your sleep. I didn’t hear any flights after 5pm or before 8am. The room has a sink, fridge, aircon and wifi is quick. Our booking accidentally didn’t go through and the staff on hand were so accommodating to get everything finalised. About 1.5km to the spit - this wasn’t an issue for me, but just in case you weren’t as physically able it would be an issue.

Nice little island near Belize City, with many hotels and resorts, many good restaurants serving fresh seafood, especially Conch.and fish... I took a tour for US$50, snorkeling and swimming with the sharks!!! My new resort has a pool and a private beach. I plan to take a private taxi and tour the whole island... very windy in the afternoons.

Ya GOTTA LOVE the tropical weather, you can't beat the longest barrier reef in the Northern Hemisphere, and that's the best diving I've experienced in several decades. This was my first visit to Ambergris Caye, & San Pedro - what was initially surprising to me very quickly became one of my favorite things about the location. Many oceanview beachfront houses are not resorts, isolated from local residents. You are right in the mix with neighbors: locals going about their daily business (non-tourist and tourist alike), schoolkids walking by, deliveries, construction happening, etc. I enjoy living like a local (sorta), although some folks might not. San Pedro beaches skew commercial/industrial: numerous docks; dock-restaurants; beach cafe; van, taxi and golf-cart traffic on the beach; sand parking lots; powerlines; & sargasso weed extending out up to 50 yds out from shore - it takes a moment to get used to, this ain't Zona Hotel in Cancun. Many hotels & resorts loom over off-beach buildings behind it, which mostly are the typical tropical unfinished, mildewy concrete buildings with rusty rebar poking out, lots of laundry lines, and rusted car parts and tools in the yard. I found this familiar and charming but some may not.

    A cool place to visit.

A cool place to visit. The Iguana Reef Inn stingrays were a highlight - being able to stroke them was awesome. Most people on the island were friendly. I felt safe but very oggled at as a young woman (constantly felt the need to cover up). I had an incident of harassment by one of the ferry workers showing me expicit porn of a girl who looked like me and asking if I liked it - very gross. The island constantly smells of burning diesel due to the golf buggies and diesel generators. This was my least favourite part and made me want to leave. There are drug dealers on the streets at night who are quite persistent. A lot of drunk tourists all hours of the day. Some decent restaurants - not the best or cheapest food ever. The magic cup has some great cheap bites (terrible coffee though and i'm really not a coffe snob - but i got half a cup of watery coffee with milk foam when I asked for a cappuccino), Reina's has some decent food too. Snorkelling tours are nice - especially the nature reserve (2nd largest barrier reef in the world!). Shark and Ray alley is completely fake due to the boats feeding the animals - I personally would avoid if going again as it felt like we were thrown into a feeding frenzy (even though it was very safe nurse sharks, I felt like i couldn't avoid accidently bumping into them and the stingrays). If I had more money to visit the blue hole I would've - others who went scuba diving there said it was amazing.

When you are in town, you need to check the store windows, the shops are small, you could miss great souveniors. Secret Beach was a lot of fun. We bought a raft on the way and one of the staff members at the beach blew it up for us. The people on the island are so nice and helpful without asking, they could sense you needed help. There was a constant breeze which made the visit so enjoyable. If you like snorkeling, diving and fishing, you will love it here. The food in San Pedro was the best food I've had from any island and we have visited most islands. A few restaurants we visited, Karumba's, Anglers, Elvi's, and Secret Beach had excellent food. There's a French Bakery near Ramon's. Try the island's chocolate, it was very good.
