- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 268 reviewsLoved the decor, lots of attention and care went into all of the furnishings that provided an old school charm. We enjoyed hanging out in the common lounge area and enjoying the selection of books and games. Nicely stocked tea/coffee bar with lots of tea options. Pillows for the beds were comfy. Len was very kind and thorough with getting us set up and Steve the manager (cat) was an absolute delight to spend time with during our stay.Guest review byJonathanCanada

Ganges is a very busy little town in the tourist season, with heavy traffic and tons of tourists and locals. Many lovely shops, but too many people in town. I wouldn't recommend Saltspring for cycling, although we did see people cycling - but roads are narrow and windy, and busy. We weren't cycling, but I grew up there and know that the roads are not good for bikes. It is definitely better to go to Saltspring in the off-season. It is an expensive place to visit, particularly in tourist season. A drive up Mount Maxwell is definitely worth it for the amazing views of Sansum Narrows, Cowichan Bay, Fulford Valley and other Gulf Islands - go with a 4 wheel drive, and not towing anything, or in an RV - road too bumpy and narrow, much of it only 1 lane.Guest review byjaniceCanada - 6.0

It is a small island with limited facilities, so go prepared. Visiting the Malaspina Galleries rock formation is a must see, close to the ferry terminal. Driving around the island is easy, although there are some unpaved roads that cross the centre.Guest review byBrianCanada - 10.0

Galiano Island is an absolute gem & our visit was so relaxing, peaceful & just perfect. The Island is quant & not been ruined by outside businesses moving in. Loved the opportunity to explore some of the most untouched natural beauty the island offers. It was easy to travel by car all over the island - although I would recommend a paper map as cell service was spotty in some areas making it difficult to use google map. It is not pretentious - the people were welcoming & kind. The beaches, the trails, the views are spectacular & I want to return for a Girl’s Get Away soon. A few shoutouts - the Galiano Bookstore is a treasure, the Market grocery store was well stocked & so beautiful inside with all the photos of the island, the Glass Shop as you travel north is a must stop - remarkable pieces on display, the Sturdies Bay Bakery scrumptious & oh my the latte & quince donut at the Oxeye is fabulous. I’d highly recommend a visit - we were there during off season so many places were closed - but the bonus for us was we felt at times we had the whole place to ourselves ❤️Guest review byKimCanada - 10.0
Great island for exploring and enjoying nature.
Great island for exploring and enjoying nature. Many parks to visit with exceptional views. Wonderful friendly, locals. We thoroughly enjoyed the local brewery tucked into the forest and the sustainable clothing store near the resort. We even enjoyed the ferry home on the new Salish Heron.Guest review byAngelleCanada - 10.0

There were many restaurants & shops in the town a short drive from the retreat, we drove all around the island & the scenery is really beautiful. The island is not busy & the ferry ride over was on time and very convenient.Guest review byPhilippaSouth Africa - 6.0
We felt that Salt Spring was over rated.
We felt that Salt Spring was over rated. The ferry was expensive $58 return, and the roads were in poor condition. Ganges was packed, as was Fulford, and finding a space to park was not easy. Ganges has quaint shops and friendly people, and the boats in the harbor are pretty. It rained whilst we were there, so going for a good walk was out of the question. The Saturday Market starts in mid April and I'm sure it will be mass congestion from then on until the fall.Guest review byrichard - 6.0
A charming island with few conveniences.
A charming island with few conveniences. The major coffee shop looks warm and welcoming but the coffee--my cappuccino, at least--seemed to be missing actual coffee. Or else it was just weak? Just water and foam? Unfortunately we are used to more luxury and conveniences so its charms were largely lost on us.Guest review byArmstrongCanada - 4.0

Kayaking at Montague Harbour Marina was excellent with our guide Bruce. Christina went out of her way to organize our tour. Hiking Moont Galiano, Montague provincial park, and Bodega Ridge were great. Morning Beach was our favourite beach. Hummingbird Pub staff were great.Guest review byIsabelCanada - 10.0
We love Salt Spring!
We love Salt Spring! Ganges has lots of good spots to eat and we especially enjoyed Auntie Pesto’s. We noticed the traffic has increased since the last time we were there especially in the core where it is very hard to find parking.Guest review byPatCanada - 10.0

Charming island - a hidden treasure so close to Nanaimo - a mere 25 minute ferry ride away. Largely forested island. Many artists - much creativity evident. Simple life. Beautiful views of the sea, other islands, coast mountains. A couple of lovely restaurants and great coffee shops. A few glorious remnants of the ancient forests. Pages Resort well worth a visit for accommodation next to the marina. A car is essential for visiting the island.Guest review byMarekCanada
