The hotel was great! Very close to Caracoles (main street). The rooms were confortable and had everything we needed, including a safebox. The pool and external area were great and cozy. Breakfast was great and the kitchen staff was amazing, super friendly. I really liked that the hotel had water filters throughout the hotel, this reduces plastics bottles and having to buy water all the time (I drink a lot of water, and even more in the dry weather of the desert). The staff of the hotel (Elizabete and Carlos) were amazing - they went above and beyond and were very friendly. All in all, would definitely return and loved Hotel Jardin Atacama.

The hotel is an oasis in San Pedro de Atacama. very well located. the rooms are very clean with nice amenities and extremely comfortable! Everything at the hotel is nicely decorated- the rooms as well the common area. breakfast and dinner as well the drinks are also very good! There is nothing we could have asked more. My husband and I are heavy travellers and we are very picky when it comes to accommodation and especially food. Nevertheless Hotel Desertica managed to tick all the boxes for pretentious guests:). But the staff is what this accommodation is all about. once we got to Calama and took the rented car we headed to Jumbo supermarket to buy some things. once we exit the supermarket our car was broken in and all our stuff stolen- electronics, clothes, shoes, literally everything!! I called the hotel to tell them and to ask for their help and they immediately asked to talk to the police and facilitate our communication with them. once we arrived to the hotel every member of the staff acted so kind and empathetic. They always went above and beyond to help us and feel better despite what happened. And all that effort they put in really worked. they made a huge difference in our mood for this holiday. We could not be more grateful and we do not know how we could ever return the favour. Cristobal, Silvia , Carolina, Estrella, Freddy thank you for everything! Thank you for being part of our journey!

The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. We got extra breakfast in the first day. It felt like I was in a cottage surrounded by trees in the middle of a desert. I could relax and disconnect from the world. All was new and clean. The room was spacious. Staying at this place was very convenient. Electricity and water shortages happen a lot in the region, but they have ways to mitigate these issues in the hotel. We were unaware of what was going on with the locals in San Pedro de Atacama. This was the only recurring issue that I read in the reviews. It did happen that there was a quick power outage for a few minutes and the water got cold. I did not care to ask for help because this happened during the day and the water temperature was what I needed after spending the day in the desert, but when I chose to seek help for solving this at 1AM after coming back from an astronomical tour, they promptly solved the problem. Having traveled a bit in South America to destinations far away from big cities, my opinion is that this place is great. I would stay at this place again if I go back to Atacama!

I had an exceptional stay at Hotel Kimal in San Pedro de Atacama. I stayed in one of the bungalows “Kimal Pueblo” and absolutely loved it, peaceful, charming, and very comfortable. It was the perfect place to relax after long days exploring the desert. The service throughout the hotel was excellent. Every member of the staff was warm, attentive, and professional. One detail I especially appreciated was that at the end of the day, the cleaning lady would quietly pass by the room, prepare the bed for my return, and turn on the bedside lamps, such a thoughtful touch that made coming back feel so cozy and welcoming. The room itself was spotlessly clean, and the spa and hotel facilities were fantastic. The restaurant was also excellent, with delicious food and amazing service every time. I highly recommend Hotel Kimal for anyone visiting the Atacama Desert. I would definitely stay here again!

I really don't understand the criticism of some guests. The rooms are comfortable. The garden is super maintained. Because Latam changed our flights, we arrived very early. We were allowed early check in. Thank you, house keeping who cleaned our room with eye for details. The only todo for the hotel is to organise a pool policy. Russian and UK guests placed towels everywhere so that all places in the shade were occupied although they were not even in the hotel. Inform the guests that towels will be removed if absent.

Wonderfully interesting property. Rooms were comfortable during the cold of the night and the heat of the day. Ingenious. We had a long nap after a night of star gazing and despite being right outside the active breakfast area, with our small fan going, we slept right through breakfast. Staff was wonderful, and very helpful. Close to town to walk. Pool was cold but refreshing. Rustic, but the beds were very comfortable and rooms cocoon you to sleep. Okay, maybe 50k+ steps a day also helped.

There is to much to say. The property is an oasis in the desert. You drive down a dusty road with lots of high walled properties and you think hmmmm where am I, then you walk up the stairs in the NOI Casa, and your like WOW. It’s an oasis, the staff are so friendly and helpful. your room is designed to fit the area and culture. The facilities are so quaint and inspired by the local area. I’d highly recommend a stay at NOI Casa.

They hosted a chilean asado (like a bbq) one night in the common area for just 7,000 CLP and it was one of the highlights of my trip. They also had a great roof area and let us spend much of the day there and keep our bags locked up in the bodega because our flight was much later than our check out.

San Pedro is a small town with dirt roads and seasonally a lot of tourists from all over the world. It is a useful base to come back to from day-trips and excursions some of which can be an entire day's drive to and from the locations. People are knowledgeable and welcoming, but you have to practice some discernment about which tours to pick and how much you're going to pay because there are more than one hundred agencies operating similar tours and competing for your business. I personally recommend Atacama Rock and Tour for putting on an astronomy tour when most other agencies refuse to offer it during the Full Moon cycle. I also recommend the French Patisserie on Caracoles Street (the main drag) for the best hot chocolate and surprisingly good soup and baked goods. Do your research in advance or you may feel overwhelmed by all the choices and details of the many tours on offer. You don't need to rent a car like I did in Calama although on a few occasions it was convenient to take my own self-guided tours. It's about one hour's drive to San Pedro from the El Loa Airport in Calama. Getting around San Pedro on foot is fairly easy though it can be very hot (high desert) during the day and very cold after the Sun goes down. Also, you might like to have a face mask with you because some unpaved roads produce a lot of dust when drivers pass by at high speed. There are ample taxis available as well as bicycle rentals if you don't have a car. There are plenty of opportunities to socialize if you travel solo, although you may have to be the one to break the ice. Speaking fluent Spanish was a huge advantage.
