FAQs about hotels in Bavaria
Romantic Region of Castles and Christmas Markets
Home to some of the world’s oldest and finest Christmas markets, Bavaria is the German region touching Lake Constance and the Austrian and Czech borders. Although evoking images of beer, lederhosen and fairytale castles, it’s much, much more than that.
Famous for Oktoberfest, its capital Munich has impressive architecture lining squares and parks, and several luxury Bavaria hotels on Booking.com. To the north, Nuremberg is a city of 2 halves: a picture-postcard old town and grandiose Nazi rally grounds housing a sensitive museum.
With a stately palace and gardens, Erlangen is on the Regnitz River which continues to beautiful Bamberg where one of the half-timbered buildings hovers above the flowing river. Bayreuth is well-known for opera performances of Wagner, a former resident, while Regensburg on the Danube River has a beautiful, medieval centre.
Unsurprisingly, most romantic Bavaria hotels are on the Romantic Road between Würzburg, with its hilltop castle, and Füssen in the foothills of the Alps. Neighbouring Hohenschwangau has 2 royal castles, one of which – Neuschwanstein – inspired the Disney castle. Oberammergau has frescoed façades and hosts a 10-yearly Passion Play, and nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a top German ski resort, with Tyrolean-style houses overlooked by Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain.
Back on the Romantic Road, Augsburg has colourful buildings, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber is like stepping back in time.

- From US$227.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 3,016 reviewsWe arrived earlier than our check-in time and even though we couldn’t get in to our rooms straight away, we were able to use the pool and sauna hours before. The reception staff were so friendly and helpful and the coffee machine in the reception area ,where everyone could help themselves freely, was amazing. Our rooms were fantastic- One of the rooms was very modern and the other one was typical German style. Everything was really clean and comfortable and we had beautiful views of the sea. Breakfast was plentiful and there was something for everyone.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom

They had a good variety of cheese, fruit, yogurt, breads, fresh squeezed juice, a spectacular variety of teas, and many healthy options. The hotel was very clean, the beds comfortable and the shower had very good water pressure. No wifi issues throughout the property. The spa and pool areas were well kept and the towels were plentiful. We cannot wait to go back.Guest review byjoannaUnited States

The Munich Botanical Garden is one of the most well-organized and richly labeled plant collections you can find in one place. The greenhouses are an absolute must-see, showcasing exotic and tropical species, but the expansive outdoor gardens are equally worth exploring. The grounds are vast, so take your time – and don’t miss the garden café, which offers tasty German-style food, drinks, coffee, and desserts, perfect for a relaxing lunch during your visit.Guest review byTzvetomir DeliyskiBulgaria - 10.0
Nuremburg is always a treat.
Nuremburg is always a treat. We've been there several times and never get tired of the incredible beauty this medieval city offers, including it's castle and wonderful local cuisine. It is a must see if you come to Germany. It's also a great location to day trip from. So many other great places to see within 90 minutes of here. If you have never been here catch the Bimmelbaum (little tourist train) first to get your bearings and maybe decide what things interest you most. Enjoy!Guest review byK.D.7Portugal - 8.0

Lovely city to have a stop during my drive to a business meeting. City has nice architecture and the Donau river gives the extra touch. Enough possibilities to have a nice lunch and diner. Can recommend Burgerheart when you want some nice American experience. Loved the peer-melon limonade. Went now two year in a row to Regensburg and can't wait for the next one.Guest review byBoecky89Belgium - 10.0
Würzburg is a very interesting city and well worth a visit.
Würzburg is a very interesting city and well worth a visit. The Residenz was nice and the views from the Fortress were spectacular. Sadly the Fortress was closed on Mondays. We stayed at the Maritime Hotel which was the perfect host. Lovely hotel and friendly staff. Breakfast was sumptuous and delicious. It is centrally situated, has parking facilities and we could walk to the city without any problems. The restaurant Alte Krane and the boat trip to Veitshöchheim was also very nice and interesting. The time spent wandering though the gardens of this very interesting quaint town was lovely. We only missed a guided walking tour of Würzburg, which was cancelled at the last minute. The information desk at the Tourist Info Office could have been more helpful. Their offer of guided tours needs to be increased. Only one offered early on a Sunday morning😒 Otherwise, Würzburg is fabulous. We met some very friendly people, especially Omi and a group of boys from Günzburg who were celebrating a bachelor party were very funny and entertaining☺️Guest review byRoshiniGermany - 10.0

Augsburg is a very charming city with lots of points of interest and restaurants and caffee's. Don't miss the Rathausplatz, Fuggerei, Maximilianstrasse, Koenigplatz and old city walls. For good Bavarian/Schwaebische Food I recommend Restaurant unter dem Bogen on Annastrasse. People watching and relaxing Caffee Eber am Rathausplatx. Take one of the city tours, organized by the city and raasonably priced. Augsburgs Strassenbahn System makes it easy to get around, buy a "Streifenkarte". Walk around in the Altstadt and around the "Kahnfahrt" and the old city walls- it is just beautiful.Guest review byUrsulaGermany - 10.0

I thought the White Night Party was an abomination.
I thought the White Night Party was an abomination. I had visited for the Richard Strauss festival whose last night was bizarrely paired with the noisiest and town dominating party I ever experienced. This meant the concert hall was entirely beseiged by very noisy bands and revellers dressed in white. Utterly bizarre. Had I known I would not have visited.Guest review byAndrewUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Not as great as advertised.
Not as great as advertised. The old city center is quite nice. The views of the rivers are nice too. Worth a day trip if you're in the neighborhood. Parking situation sucks. There are parking garages that actually close from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. We got up at 4 a.m. to get on the road early to beat the traffic when we noticed the garage being closed. It's the first time it ever happened to us. No way to get in and anywhere near your car. It was 10.30€ for a day. It was the Parkhaus Wöhrl. By the way you can't pay by debit card and you should have the right amount of money with you. If you put in 50€ you don't get any change back! WTF?! If you want to be able to access your car 24/7 you have to find a garage that doesn't close for the night. There is one for currently 35€ a day. There are parking lots as well but I can't say how safe it is to park your car overnight...Guest review byAnonymousGermany - 10.0
