Hotel Waldhof auf Herrenland
The stay we booked turned out to be a huge 2BHK apartment with a huge bathroom. The surroundings were amazing. Perfect spot to take great photos. I really think the pictures didn't do justice. They must take better pictures to show the whole area and amenities. The breakfast and the seating area was cool.

The rooms are much more comfortable as expected when we did enter the hotel. There was a bit disappointment when we enter the hotel, because of the old fashioned style of the lobby, restaurant etc. But the rooms are actually pretty nice.

A wonderful small town with great historical links. A delightful Old Town and the Elbschiffahrt Museum was a brilliant small museum to visit. We could have spent longer there, but our itinerary was 'against' us.

Very nice Apartment, Look the same as in the photos. 6 mins walking distance to 2 big supermarkets and Rossmann. 2 bathrooms 2 toilets, both bedrooms very enough space. Furniture all clean as new, from building door until apartment front door only a few stairs. House owner very helpful and answer fast before and after check in

Central location for Lübeck and Schwerin as we visit, but there is much more. I do recommend to read a bit beforehand before going about the history because it is interesting and not long time ago. I did not, and that was a shortcoming for my holiday. Actually astonishing what was happened short time ago, here at the border what was once East and West Germany. You need to love nature, lakes also. Walking/ hiking. Water sport as well. Small villages, old cities. And. (East German, may I still say this?) East German hospitality, it's just different but not unwilling. The hospitality is correct but do not expect a lot of smiles.

It is close to city centrum. Several restaurants and one can have good shopping experience. Our car side mirror got damaged. It was very easy to find mechanic. He was friendly person and did quick repair.

The outdoor heated swimming pool complex is a wonderful feature. It's only 1.50 Euros per person per hour, or 5 Euros for a full day. It has flumes and paddling pools, several other pools, diving boards, and is heated. In two weeks I was there four times and could have gone more often! Geesthacht itself isn't particularly picturesque, but it has a large pedestrian area, with a good variety of shops including a sewing/knitting shop and a bookshop. We found it a pleasant place for a stroll. The main supermarket, Rewe, is quite good, with a decent variety of everything you could need. There are a lot of places to eat outside, which was useful for us as we are covid-vulnerable. It's very near the River Elbe, and you can hire bikes including ebikes from tourist information, although you may have to book in advance. Last time we were here we had a pleasant ride along the Elbe.
