We visit Sønderborg quite often.
We visit Sønderborg quite often. It's location at the Baltic Sea and close to the German border make it an attractive location for a day trip or weekend escape. Guderup is a typical Danish village, but as it is bang in the middle of Als you have easy access to everywhere on the island. Sønderborg is a good location for some days to explore the town, surrounding nature and the historical monuments. The castle and Dybbøl are both important parts of the history of Denmark. The town houses a top restaurant (Hotel Alsik) and several restaurant with a more normal price range. We enjoyed a dinner in the Mongolian restaurant which has many well prepared dishes (buffet), beer and wine to fair prices. Perhaps not Michelin style, but we enjoyed it very much and several dishes were excellent; my wife loved the crispy vegetables, and I loved the barbecued pork ribs with frites and the fried seafood.Guest review byNordjyllandDenmark
