So beautiful in the old city but also a lot of other great areas to explore that were less touristy. I loved Kalamaja, the creative city, and the large park (kadriorg) as well as Noblessner. Maardu is a quiet industrial town near Tallinn, just 30min by bus from the city center. It has a lot of supermarkets, is rather clean and well-kept and feels somewhat safe. Might be interesting for fans of Soviet/industrial legacy and brutalism architecture due to town being almost exclusively built in Soviet era with mostly pre-fab apartment complexes. Manager Meelis knows the true meaning of hospitality. We have been to many special places around the world, nothing compares with his very warm welcoming and attention. The manor is enchanting, location and surroundings superb. We were treated like we were the only guests, and if this was our home. Breakfast was freshly cooked for us and had everything we wanted and much more. The old town is just gorgeous.
The old town is just gorgeous. It’s like stepping back in time. It’s very walkable. Lots of nice restaurants and shops. There are lots of small museums and there are small sections of the city wall open to the public. Just outside the old town there are several small shopping centres too. The parking system is not working well.
The parking system is not working well. We visited the museum (maritime museum). It was written that parking is free for 4 hours for museum visitors. We entered our car's license plate into the museum's computer, but an hour later we received a €40 fine.
