- From £343.08 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Superb - What previous guests thought, 811 reviewsI booked this hotel for a rest with my daughter during the holidays. It is a beautiful hotel with a long history. It was founded in 1909 and has retained its identity, imbued with the entire history of France, from royalty to the present day. The room is typically French small, but has all the facilities for a stay including a very comfortable bed. We ordered breakfast in the room and they brought us very fresh and delicious pastries, starting with fresh baguettes in various types, croissants, and other famous French buns. Even if we had no desire to eat, it was impossible not to be tempted. :)) We had dinner at the restaurant and also celebrated my birthday. The cuisine exceeded my expectations, with very refined and beautifully presented dishes. And most importantly - it was delicious! Thank you very much to the chef! Used the sauna as well, it was mostly very quiet and we were able to relax. In front of the hotel is Grand beach, a lovely bay, and a shore for swimming and relaxing.Guest review bySevdaAzerbaijan
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 984 reviewsExceptional, historic luxury and authentic architecture. We stayed two years ago and were so impressed. I had forgotten the half of how spectacular this place is. It has a warm and even temperature throughout despite being a fort/ castle. I am sure King Carlos and Napoleon didn't have this much luxury. For all its grandeur such as embossed sheets and towels, this parador is informal, friendly and peaceful. The breakfast choice is first class and a lovely mix of waited on service and self service. We splashed out for our wedding anniversary near Christmas and the hotel decorations were simple and stunning.Guest review byjulieFrance
- From £205.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,503 reviewsThe welcome was great, the staff were really pleasant. We got a lovely room with a sea and mountain view. It was our wedding anniversary and there was a nice bottle of cava in the room. They were very thoughtful. Breakfast was good and the Thalassotherapy spa was very relaxing. We used the spa every day. The location was great as it had a beach, walks, several restaurants and some nice bars in the immediate location. Plus it was a 20 minute drive into the centre of San Sebastian from there.Guest review bySuzanneIreland

We really enjoyed the location and the views from the apartment were great. Everything was within easy walking distance (bakery, grocery, shops, beach, train station...). The apartment is situated in a very quiet location. The property is good size for 3 people to stay comfortably. The kitchen had some basic cooking equipment. The bathroom shower is powerfull but on a smaller size and bathroom is missing some basic storage. Monica gave us clear instructions before arrival and communicated well. Unfortunately, the property is advertised as non smoking and there was a very strong smell of smoke present when we arrived. The owner tried to rectify it by giving us a small air purifier but it was very gimmicky and unfortunately hasn't done the job. We could smell it on our bedding too :( . We raised the issue with Monica but she insisted that apartment is non smoking. We requested a small refund but could not come to an agreement. Shame!Guest review byVikiUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Biarritz is an absolute treasure of a place to visit.
Biarritz is an absolute treasure of a place to visit. It has so much on offer and if you like surfing, there are multiple places to hire boards and wetsuits as well as a large number of surf schools. We LOVED the swimming beach too and the aquarium. There are many food options for different budgets. As the weather was so nice, we got take away food most evenings and sat on the beach, watching the sun set. There are many restaurants and the brunch scene is big with lots of pretty places to choose from, I highly recommend Les Halles covered market and the little train to get a feel for where everything is. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and we are already planning our return trip!Guest review byJoannaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Bayone is a very historic city in the French side of the Basque Country. The old town is charming with plenty of chocolate shops. Saturday all the shops are open but Sunday the town is shut down so plan accordingly. We visited the Basque museum on Sunday - well worth a visit.Guest review byCristinaUnited States - 10.0

Saint-Jean-de-Luz is a very pleasant little town on the South-west coast of France. Its beach is nicely sheltered from the wild Bay of Biscay, making it safe and attractive. We stayed in a central hotel with easy access to some lovely bars and restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. It's an easy drive into the countryside; we climbed a mountain called Larrun, part of the Pyrenees, then easily back to St Jean de Luz for a swim and out for dinner! Also some good local shops.Guest review byMartinUnited Kingdom - 10.0
We know the area and were primarily there to visit a friend.
We know the area and were primarily there to visit a friend. We were on a budget so had to use public transport, which turned out to be super easy to use. You can pay with cash or bank card directly on the bus (you can only buy one ticket with a bank card, however) or you can buy a loaded card with ten tickets (which you can use for more than one person) at machines at train stations, principal stops and tobacconists. Timetables are given at bus stops and are accurate. Make sure you know when the public holidays are, as these affect public transport considerably. The bus journey to Biarritz station is less than half an hour (depending on the route they take) and from there you can travel quickly and inexpensively to St Jean de Luz, Bayonne and elsewhere. The three towns I have mentioned are so close by, yet so contrasting and are all worth a visit. The number 36 bus (a little further away from the apartment - maybe 8-10 mins walk) give you access to beaches up the coast, like La Madrague. I used Google Maps a lot and found its advise re: public transport super helpful. My teenage girls loved the frothy hot chocolate at Chez Cazenave in Bayonne, https://www.chocolats-bayonne-cazenave.fr/4-nos-chocolats. On our last night, we ate at Casa Juan Pedro, http://casajuanpedro.com/en/home, in Biarrtiz's old port. They were welcoming, and the food was delicious and simply presented (our party includes seafood enthusiasts and picky eaters).Guest review byLauraUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Relaxed, friendly town.
Relaxed, friendly town. The main town is separate from the area with the beach - about a 20min walk along a pleasant waterside walk/cycle way. Both areas are worth a visit. The main town has a nice square with some lovely cafes/small restaurants and the beach area is a little more touristy but also has good places to eat overlooking the sea. We happened to be in town for a fortnightly Friday night community supper in the port so enjoyed freshly grilled sardines, bread, cheese, basque tart and a glass of wine for €13Guest review byEleonoreUnited Kingdom - 8.0
