- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 220 reviewsSometimes it is difficult to rate a property as it may not be all things to everyone. For us, en route to France and needing an overnight stay, the property was excellent. Not too far from our route and well worth the short drive. The property was in a most scenic part of the mountains and was like a stand alone farmhouse style. The host Alex and his son, greeted us with a smile and gave us information pertaining to the area, of which two recommendations we took. One was a walk through the countryside to the adjoining village which was a great joy and the other was to a simple local restaurant where we ate simple but tasty meals. Our room in the house was large and airy with a scenic outlook of great beauty. The bed and linen were superb and offered us a lovely rest. In an adjoining common area there was the facility to make a hot drink or to purchase cold beverages. A very homely way to provide extra touches. The shower was good and strong and the bathroom modern. We were delighted to have found such a personalised place for us to stay on our journey. Our only regret was that we had to move on the next day as we would have been very content extending our stay.Guest review bySandraAustralia
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 71 reviewsEverything was exceptional, from our welcome, to our room, to the meals, to the location, to the hotel building itself. The staff at this family-run hotel were so friendly and helpful, and we felt really at home in this fabulous Inn, dating from the 1500s and full of character. The evening meal in the restaurant was excellent over each of our 3 nights, testified by the large number of Spanish diners. We will be back... Just a little note to future guests: our room looked over the monastery so we could hear the bells tolling a regular tune...but happily the bells did not toll from 10pm to 8am !Guest review bySusanUnited Kingdom
- From £58.05 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very good - What previous guests thought, 572 reviewsWe had a great time here at this very scenic location. Although we booked a basic room, there was a fantastic view out to the mountains from the small balcony. The room on the smaller side but was neat and tidy and excellent value. We ate at other restaurants for dinner but the breakfast was good and reasonable value.Guest review byMatthewAustralia
- From £89.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Superb - What previous guests thought, 743 reviewsThe surrounding areas are out of this world with so much to explore. The host is so friendly and accommodating - he also makes the bests omelettes we’ve ever eaten. The room felt like home and having a hot tub in the room may not be a necessity but was totally welcome after a long day hiking.Guest review byLucyUnited Kingdom

I didn’t actually visit Oñati this time, instead I selected to go there for the hiking opportunities that offer a really nice experience. I did the “PR-GI 3006 La Senda de Urbia” and I really recommend it as a half day activity. Great views and lots of horses and other animals along the way. Another activity I’m happy to recommend is the guided tour of the Arrikrutz cave. The caves are impressive on their own and the guide really added another dimension of interest with context and explanations.Guest review byAndreBelgium - 10.0

The village Escoriaza is not so special, but it is very well located in the beautiful mountains of Baskenland, near to picturesque villages and cities, not too far away from Vitoria-Gasteiz and its airport and at the highway Madrid - FranceGuest review bygeertBelgium - 8.0
It's beautiful village, surrounding by mountains.
It's beautiful village, surrounding by mountains. We didnt realize that the village has old and important histories for the surrounding. It has an oldest university and very beautiful in Basque Country.Guest review byLifter TuaNetherlands - 8.0
On the town itself, I did not find all that much to see.
On the town itself, I did not find all that much to see. Besides the old university building and the town square, I found some old facades on the streets off the main square. The surroundings are the reason I will be back - the hills and the wooded areas are really nice.Guest review byAndreBelgium
