- From £77.11 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 826 reviewsVery well situated off the main road, good flat parking area, attention of the host, Joannuel, who was kindness itself. He greeted us warmly, showed us the incredible Flour Mill dating back to 1660, where we spent a pleasant evening relaxing. Our room was enormous, really warm, with a huge comfortable bed, a seating area with TV, a wardrobe and complimentary mineral water in the minibar. The bathroom was well equipped with a large bath, walk in rainforest shower, gel, shampoo, hand wash, fluffy towels, and hairdryer. It also had a bidet. We both slept incredibly well. The buffet breakfast was very complete, we were also offered a cooked breakfast at no additional cost.We would not hesitate to stay there again! It was like being at home ! There is a lawned area. The whole property is surrounded by nature.Guest review byPeterSpain
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 26 reviewsVincente and Pepa's property totally exceeded our expectations. It looks even better in person than in the photos. The house was big, comfy and spotlessly clean. It is about a 10/15 minute walk from all of Aracena's lovely restaurants and attractions but far enough away to be peaceful and calm in a rural setting. The house is on quite a big piece of land with a resident pig, chickens and donkeys - this was perfect for our 2 year old daughter who loved exploring and feeding the pig and donkey. You also have fabulous views of the castle and we enjoyed sitting on the patio, eating dinner and watching the sun go down. Vincente and Pepa were helpful and accommodating, providing a bed for our daughter free of charge and ensuring the pool was cleaned regularly. We will definitely be coming again :)Guest review byKateUnited Kingdom
- From £116.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.6Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 148 reviewsLovely breakfast, friendly and helpful owners, excellent food served every evening, and Saturday evenings are particularly fabulous with entertainment, music and gorgeous food and wine! Our room was beautiful and spacious with chairs and a fireplace as well as a super comfy large bed. The hotel is in a very quiet area so you would want a car to get here and to get around - the roads, some are quite steep and most bend and twist, but they are very good roads surface-wise so no worries at all and with fabulous views all around.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom
- From £96.88 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,877 reviewsThis is a magnificently and tastefully renovated historical Convent that offers very private and well-appointed rooms. My wife and I had a wonderful overnight there and enjoyed a nice dinner under the stars at the restaurant. Walking around the hotel and enjoying all the various aspects of the building was very pleasant. I would highly recommend Hotel Convento.Guest review byRichardAustralia

As stated, having stayed there even solo in the past, was a bit disappointed that the twin room was so tight. Fantastic staff more than compensated but I think as a former client, a little bit of speciality would have gone a long way. Still LOVE the place, so special.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
The accommodation was very quiet.
The accommodation was very quiet. It was based on a lovely old olive mill. The proprietor was very welcoming and showed me around before taking me to my room. The only downside was the local town which was a little down at heel. The property could not, however, be faulted.Guest review byHamishUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Very nice and comfortable rooms!
Very nice and comfortable rooms! Unfortunately we did not have a room with a view, it was a bit dark but for 1 night it was great. I can recommend it for business stays! The hotel does not offer breakfast.Guest review byAnonymousGermany - 8.0
Beautiful quiet house in the countryside.
Beautiful quiet house in the countryside. Very friendly owner. Perfect location to relax and to enjoy nature. Be aware that.it is an old house, well kept but low ceilings and a.narrow steep staircase.Guest review byEdith18Spain - 8.0

Small city in Andalusia surrounded by nature, close to many other whitewashed villages with a rich history, very cute to spend some time to walk in there and eat good food with reasonable price. The area is full of beautiful hiking paths. If you're looking to connect with nature, it is one of the good options.Guest review byMasoud SaediPortugal - 8.0
Alajar is a beautiful, remote Spanish village.
Alajar is a beautiful, remote Spanish village. A few local grocery shops and bars. A great base to go hiking from. Hardly anywhere to eat in the evenings though. We had a great evening meal at Posada de San Marcos where Lucy really looked after us and sorted out our transport for the following days' hike.Guest review byLouiseGuernsey - 8.0

We did not see the caves but walked up to the castle nearby for the view. At the same site one can view the dark sky at midnight. The local tourist office is not manned by knowledgeable people but provided some useful brochures and postcards.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

We enjoyed the trip on the little train round the city centre. We also loved the Gruta (caves/grotto) and castle and grounds. Very easy to walk around, everything is within10-15 minutes walking distance. The walk up to the castle may be a little steep for some people but take your time and you will be ok.Guest review byJennaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Almonaster la Real is a beautiful village that we first visited around twenty years ago. It is set in a landscape of wooded hills with good opportunities for walking. Set on a hill above the village is the castle, bullring and the mezquita. the latter dates from the late ninth or early tenth centuries although it includes details recycled from the earlier Roman and Visigothic periods. It is a haven of peace and simple beauty. There area few bars and restaurants but, possibly because of the pandemic, there were very limited opportunities for eating in the evening except for Fridays and Saturdays.Guest review byChrisPortugal - 10.0

Loved that all the buildings were white washed and of uniform size. No carbuncles. Only spoilt by a massive Barcelo Hotel dominating one of the hills. The person allowing it to be built there should be shot or at least give his back-hander back..... It is a must to visit the Caves and the Castle/Church. Entrance price very reasonable. A lot to choose from when deciding where to eat. A lot of places however were very unfriendly to you if you had dogs with you.Guest review byThe Old Travelling DogUnited Kingdom
