    Perfect location overlooking a lovely beach. The deluxe room was worth the extra cost. It was large and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities which we had not found in any of the other hotels we stayed in for our tour of northern Spain. The balcony and beach view were perfect. The breakfast was delicious with a wide range of food to choose from. We also had lunch on the terrace and dinner in the cafe/restaurant. Good choice of menu at reasonable prices and even written in English. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was plenty of parking and although expensive it was similar in other hotels.

    Aranxa, the owner, made us extremely welcome. We had a lovely room with a terrace and view of the ocean. The location was perfect for anyone with their own transport. We had use of the garden and kitchen facilities. Within easy reach of fantastic beaches, pretty villages and an amazing bird sanctuary. An extremely relaxing experience and highly recommendable.

    Bilbao is a fantastic city deserving of a 2-3 day visit to...

    Bilbao is a fantastic city deserving of a 2-3 day visit to explore its highlights: the excellent Guggenheim Museum, charming Casco Viejo, bustling Erriberako Merkatua (though the food could be improved - go for pintxos elsewhere), the cathedral, and numerous pintxos bars (go for the ones that Google rates 4.3+). However, Bilbao truly shines as a base for exploring the stunning Basque Country. A car is highly recommended to easily reach nearby gems like Santander, San Sebastian (a foodie paradise requiring advance booking for Michelin-starred restaurants), Guernica, Getaria, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Pamplona, and the breathtaking mountains and Rioja wine region. Even a trip to the French coast (Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz) is within reach, making Bilbao an ideal starting point for a memorable Basque Country adventure.

    B arakaldo is a bourough of Bilbao. IT is a good place to stay to visit the city. I was very impressed by the city, specially its architecture, both ancient/classic and modern. It definitely is worth a visit, say a week.

    First of all Lekeitio is a very safe town. Walked a lot and always felt safe. It is the best little coastal town with beaches, bakeries, bars, restaurants, parking, grocery and other stores, within walking distance. We stayed at 20 Beheko Kalea and it was a perfect location - the port was about 4 minutes away. Didn't go into the water at the beach, but my grandkids did later this month and they totally loved it. We ate at the bar/restaurants by the port and we also ate at Restaurant Egana. All was great.

    Using the local transport is easy and we recommend the Bilbao Bizkaia Card - it can be used on all public transport and if you share a card between 2 people or more the additional fares are discounted. Can buy in stations etc. The town is busy but not loud and feels safe. Local people are friendly and helpful with things like the public bike hire.

    The Museo de la Paz is impressive, a visit there cannot miss during the trip. For dinner it is necessary to book a tablet in advance, as per all the cities in the Basque Country. With the Eusko train you can reach in 30 minutes some villages on the coast such as Mundaka and Bermeo, very beautiful places. You can buy the Barik card to travel at a very low price on all kind of public transport in Bizkaya.

    Visited this quaint beach/surfer town in off-season and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very few foreign tourists. A couple nice tapas bars were open and filled with locals. Charming streets and views of the sea. Frequent, reliable train service available to other towns along the coast and all the way to Bilbao.

    Bakio is a terrific beach and surfing resort, but we didn't go for either of those. We went because it's close to Gaztelugatxe and there are some very good restaurants nearby. And a txakoli museum! Check it out!

    There’s a lot to see in Portugalete - plenty of information at the Tourist Office. The nearest beach is just minutes away The hanging bridge (puente Colgante) is an extraordinary piece of engineering and is the most predominant feature here There’s a produce market - fruit/veg/flowers and plants three times a week. There are boat trips too but these only operate at weekends from 15 September We found a great Mexican restaurant in the old town
