I’m my opinion The Faroe Islands are not a holiday destination, but rather activity one. The weather is very changeable one minute to the next, and the beaches are all black sand, or volcanic dust, not ideal for sunbathing. The islands are quite small and most places of interest can be visited in no more that two days. Having said that the people are very nice and friendly, and if you want a hiking break they are ideal. I only stayed three full days, but saw all the islands in that time. Would I recommend the Islands, well yes but know where you are going and what type of break you want.Guest review byMalcolmUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Sandavágur is a quiet village, and besides its beautiful church does not stand out too much. It is quite conveniently located, only 10 km from the airport. Options for eating out, or even grocery shopping are limited within the village, and require travel to neighbouring villages. The local fish restaurant is highly recommended! Some walking tracks are available, but it does not require a multi-day stay to visit the village and its immediate area. It is possible, but not ideal, to travel the Faroe Islands without a car.Guest review byCarloNetherlands - 10.0

Postcard perfect village and if u look back across the harbour at night with the lights its magical. Little beach with incredible view up the right hand coastline provided perfect backdrop for doing tai chi. Not too many amenities available like any of the villages outside torshavn and klaksvik so would recommend a visit to fk or bonus supermarket which is not far out the airport if u take a right rather than left to sorvagur. Bonus is cheaper.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Gjógv can easily be explorerd by foot.
Gjógv can easily be explorerd by foot. We especially loved the puffins on the cliff edge above the small harbour as well as the great views over to Kalsoy. The children played with makeshift rafts on the small stream in the village centre. Just above the harbour is a small café selling waffles. Try one with rhubarb jam!Guest review byDanielaFrance - 8.0

A very convenient location when arriving by air from overseas. Just a few minutes' drive from the airport, its' a great base to get your bearings. The town has adequate grocery shopping and a petrol station and is convenient for exploring Gasadalur as well as crossing over to Streymoy and beyond.Guest review byChrisUnited States - 8.0

Not so easy to get around the islands by public bus - you always need to go via the capital, so day trips are tricky to organise. Vestmanna is a sweet, relaxing, genuine mid-sized "village" - the best thing to do is just walk, enjoy nature, make contact with people. It is relatively economical. The bird-cliffs are the main attraction (visit by boat).Guest review byJanetItaly - 10.0

Very nice area to walk around with a small but good selection of shops. It's easy to walk/hike to another village either via the road route or via Lake Toftir which is spectacular and something I would never get board of.Guest review byThomasUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Great place, friendly and helpful hosts.
Great place, friendly and helpful hosts. Breakfast with a lot of choice. Clean rooms. A lot of parkingspace. Beautiful view. No possibility to get some fresh air into the room. The rooms were quite warm.Guest review byPeterNetherlands - 10.0
The boat to Svinoy and Fugloy departed from there.
The boat to Svinoy and Fugloy departed from there. Also it was easy to get to Vidareidi on Vidoy and there is a lovely walk from Muli. The islands of Kunoy and Kalsoy are not far too and they are very pretty.Guest review byShireenUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Great restaurants with three Michelin-rated restaurants in town. Lots of fine dining choices. We visited a few of the other islands. Great if you like hiking and natural beauty and serenity. If you are looking for “exciting” things to do or tons of shopping, then this might not be the place for you.Guest review byAnonymous
