Lege Cap Ferret is a very quiet town that gives great access to all the beaches, towns and restaurants in the area. If you stay here you will find it very peaceful, but you will need a car to access everything else. We went in the last week of August, the traffic was OK, and parking seemed easy everywhere. In our time we visited all the major beaches and towns - hired bikes - and Bordeaux was also easy to drive into. Cap Ferret still has some degree of old-world charm as a sea...
Cap Ferret still has some degree of old-world charm as a sea-side resort, and has not been over-developed. Working fisherman's huts, and holiday beach shacks can still be found, and it looks very much as I remembered it on my first visit 20 years ago. To get to it you have a 40 minute drive around the bay - past some crowded beach parks and caravan parks - or you take the ferry from Arcachon, which is smarter but much more developed as a resort. Emilie, our host was magnificent and kind. She made us feel very much part of the community. She knows all the super restaurants and oyster caban's and was able to book in advance for us as they are always very busy. We felt at home in this accommodation. The breakfast was Top Class!
