FAQs about hotels in French Riviera
Sunshine, Stunning Scenery and Celebrities
The French Riviera (or Côte d'Azur) boasts mountain backdrops, beautiful beaches and palm-lined promenades. It’s a year-round favourite of artists and celebrities - maybe the reason why, of French Riviera hotels, 5-star properties are high in number.
Several are in exclusive Saint Tropez with its pristine beach and marina full of expensive yachts. Boats cross the bay’s turquoise waters to the Blue Flag beaches of Sainte Maxime, and Port Grimaud, overlooked by Grimaud castle.
Le Lavandou has a wonderful beach and marina, while Fréjus has a waterpark, and neighbouring Saint Raphaël’s promenade and coastline are dominated by the Esterel Massif. Famous for its glitzy film festival, Cannes spans a wide bay and has designer shops and grand villas. Protected by a sea wall to the east, Antibes has a Picasso museum in its castle.
Nice is the Riviera’s largest city and Nice Airport is France’s 3rd busiest. Known for the Promenade des Anglais and large squares, it houses most Cote d’Azur hotels on the beach on Booking.com. Next door Villefranche-sur-Mer has brightly coloured façades at the water’s edge and is separated by a promontory from dramatically located Beaulieu-sur-Mer.
The region’s most easterly town is Menton, at the foot of the Alps, while glamorous Monaco is home to an F1 Grand Prix, and a world-famous casino and royal family.

Great city that is central to the beautiful French Riviera.
Great city that is central to the beautiful French Riviera. Cultural history. Easy travel options. Great food and drink. We loved it. We extended our plans to go to Eze, Monaco, Monte Carlo, and Antibes but we could have easily continued to more local destinations. We started our stay with a Kickoff Tour by WithLocals that helped us make the most of the area. Would definitely consider shoulder season travel.Guest review byBobUnited States - 8.0
Mostly disappointed with pollution!
Mostly disappointed with pollution! Smoking is allowed everywhere. Worst ever on all my trips! Beaches are pretty dirty! And the seawater is very dirty. I did not expect this! Very disappointing this time. I'll never go back. There are many prettier places for a real vacation and rest!Guest review byTatjanaCanada - 8.0
Antibes is a lovely town with a lot to explore.
Antibes is a lovely town with a lot to explore. The small narrow streets in the old town are wonderful and you never know what’s around the next corner. There are so many squares with good food at them all. A little knowledge of French would make thing’s easier but by no means necessary.Guest review byJohnIreland - 10.0
Menton is beautiful.
Menton is beautiful. A perfect stop along a fab coastline of towns and villages both in France and over the border in Italy. The town itself is buzzing with cafes, shops and restaurants. The old world charm of the town remains and it isn't over- commercialised. Beaches are lovely, with warm, clear water, mind the stony sand though. The area felt unspolit. An ideal spot to base yourself to travel around the regions, close to Nice airport, Cannes, Antibes, Monaco and Italy. Public transport was fine, trains and Ubers, local buses were infrequent. We loved The New Bar on the pier, a basic pub with music and friendly staff. Menton is hilly, especially around Menton Garavan (port area) so avoid if you've mobility issues or young children, better to locate in the town itself. Recommend a sunrise swim, beautiful to see the sun rise and reach the Basicilica St Michael, a must visit tourist site.Guest review bymaeveIreland - 10.0

Clean beaches, friendly people, good selection of shops in the various areas. Plenty of historic places to visit if you are so inclined. We were there during some celebration and there were fireworks at night, and a lovely night-market along the waterfrontGuest review byGillianCanada - 8.0

there are no 5star hotel groups there.. no Mario's or sheratons or Hiltons ? wonder why ?? the hotels are overpriced for the value we get. But the city is lovely and a very nice place to visit. Ie. the Breakfast place where we stay - the older generation with old mentality are Races and Rude, but the new younger generation are very nice and polite. I thin the older ones have their pains in the Ass..s to worryGuest review byRajuHong Kong - 10.0
Great market. Excellent butches.
Great market. Excellent butches. Good train links to other towns on the coast. Ferry well worth using to Saint Tropez. Taxis helpful and reasonably priced. The town, beach and services are lovely, nice to walk round. Good shopping too.Guest review byAlisonUnited Kingdom - 6.0
I know Montecarlo for many years .
I know Montecarlo for many years . In my opinion it has not improved but deteriorated. The public of today is definitely made of people who want to be seen in Monaco or are looking to snap a fortune. The casino unheard off requires a passport and an entrance fee. It looks like they are desperate to make money in the absence of habitual rich gamblersGuest review byvon PalaceNamibia - 10.0
It's simply wonderful.
It's simply wonderful. The town is just the right size, not too big yet not too small. All the facilities are within walking distance. There are lots of bars, reataurants and shops, including supermarkets. The beach is great, too. It's not overcrowded. The prices in some eatieries might seem too high, but it's possible to find some affordable places.Guest review byZygmuntPoland - 8.0

Beausoleil is within walking distance of the centre of Monaco and much more affordable than Monaco accommodation. There is a hop on, hop off bus but most things are within walking distance if you are of a reasonable fitness and you get a better feel of the place too. Food can be relatively inexpensive, so you don't have to spend a fortune. Great place to stay for a couple of days and see all the sights.Guest review byjayneUnited Kingdom
