This is one of the most beautiful and picturesque villages in the Alsace wine region. It can be busy during the day at peak season as it is on the Wine Route and gets a lot of day visitors. Staying here means that you get to experience it in the mornings and evenings when it is generally fairly quiet and you can really enjoy the surroundings and the handful of local restaurants and cafes. For us, that was one of the best reasons to stay here. It is also a great location for days out around the region, to Basle in Switzerland (40 minutes by car) and also across the Rhine into Germany (30-40 minutes by car) being fairly central. From the UK, it is easy and fairly quick to get to with Eurostar into Strasbourg or cheap flights to Basle Airport then local transport.

Beautiful village with half-timbered houses in the heart of the wine-growing region of Alsace. Very touristy during the daytime, but the crowds thin out considerably in the evening, leaving the storks in peace with those discerning enough to have booked somewhere to stay in the village itself. Eating out is expensive and the quality is mediocre. Nobody needs to try hard here, because the location is stunning and people will keep coming back even when service is poor. Some spectacular castle ruins are hiking distance from the village. The picturesque city of Colmar is within easy reach. The historic village of Turckheim is worth visiting when the town watchman does his nightly rounds of the walls, wishing all the sleeping inhabitants a "guati Nacht" in the Alsacien language.

The village is quite sweet but small. There are a few restaurant choices but they are expensive and the quality didn’t blow us away. It’s ok as a base for exploring the area but maybe not to stay. Best place we ate was Auberge le Biblenhof which I would highly recommend

It's a very small village with few to many wine tasting possibilities, depending on the season. The pathetic thing is to book and then go to a restaurant else they don't entertain. Go to the next village and it's like a city.

Beautifully kept Medieval town. Extremely well run hotel with outstanding Breakfasts and beautiful food in the Winstub. The staff are very helpful and the owners work very hard and in the hotel every day. Wintzenheim is a stunning location based amid picturesque scenery, wine growing, restaurants, mountains and castles of Alsace. Very clean. The neighbourhood is friendly and 5 mins away from shops most are within walking distance. The apartment offers a free parking spot and a motor vehicle is recommended - however there is a bus service into the main centre - Colmar, and other nearby villages

Alsace is a unique region, of which Turckheim is a typical example of heritage and modernity. The wines are famous worldwide, the Cave de Turckheim is just outside the town walls surrounded by vines as far as the eye can see. Their restaurant Caveau du vigneron is the best in town.
